Yes, one’s children are usually sent off to the care of others when they are old enough to go to school. At that point, however, the child has reached a different phase in his development. Those pre-school years are crucial in his socialization, which is best nurtured by his own mother. I did not mean to imply that a child cared for by paid strangers will not be successful in school and in business; his emotional development is the focus of my concern in this area.

Yes, there are examples of mothers who have no choice but to pay strangers to care for their children, but the vast majority of children in daycare are there because mommy wants to be “fulfilled” or the family cannot live without those brand new cars or fancy vaciations or a mcmansion. Being a full-time mother is the hardest job in the world, but it is also the most important job in the world.

All I would have to do is walk into a day care center and see one man working and I would turn around right back out the door.
