umbilical stem cells, not embryonic. the embryonic ones are the ones state and federal government is spendign all that money on.

There's no reason to fear that a successful treatment resulted from embryonic stem cells. So far, there have been zero instances; and there are unlikely to be any. If a cure results from embryonic stem cell research; you can be sure that we'll all know. You won't need to read the article closely; it will appear in the banner headlines.

Her parents had hoped the controversial stem cell treatment - which is not available in the UK - would improve her sight, speech and mobility.

It involves injecting the spinal canal with cells taken from the umbilical cords of healthy babies. The cells are then used to rebuild the optic nerves.

Looks good to me.

Looks like little Izabelle has a way to go in learning to use her eyes. It would be interesting to know, in a year or so, if her eyes uncross as she matures.
