I would say that if Obama is ineligible then everything he has done as president is unconstitutional, most of it is anyway even if he is eligible.
It is the swore duty of our officer corps to protect the Constitution first and foremost and by any means necessary, for instance The Marine Commandant General Smedley D.Butler averted a Fascist coup d’etat in 1932 by basically saying whatever army you raise he would raise one bigger and defeat it after the Fascists offered him the command of their army.
The Coup d’etat’s leaders flinched and hid their aborted attempt while their cohorts in Congress branded a Man who was received the Medal of Honor twice as some sort of a lunatic for protecting The Constitution.
Is it ridiculous to believe that our officers would and should protect our constitution no matter what might happen to them because they are honor bound to do so?
We do not advocate military coups on FR. Never have. Never will. You’re taking your conspiracy theory too far.
This is the first I have heard of this. I will immediately do some research.
“I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class thug for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 19021912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.” — Gen Smedley D. Butler
I’d pick a different guy to boast about...he’d fit in well with most Democrats. Of course, he helped push FDR. And there is some question about the existence of that “Fascist coup detat in 1932”.
Wow. I didn’t know that story.
I have taken so much for granted. So many of the great stands of history weren’t nearly as clearcut or easy at the time as they seem in retrospect. Evil is so rampant because it’s so hard to fight it. I’m learning it’s never easy for the good guys to win. If they win, it’s by blood, sweat, and tears, and there were probably at the time as many people who thought they were the bad guy as recognized they were the good guys.
I needed that story. Thanks for telling it.
