All this red flyover country identifies with the Palins; most us of know someone who went up to Alaska to work the pipeline or the other opportunities, and kick ourselves for not also doing it.

All across the US we just finished or are finishing our deer seasons. Not everybody hunts, but we all understand the tradition and ethos. Its part of providing for our family- even if largely symbolic.(does keep the woods and firearm skills up somewhat)

City dwellers( in spirit) can’t and won’t understand.

To be honest I squirmed when she shot the caribou...but the reality is that I wear leather, eat meat so I just need to keep my mouth shut. I think what Sarah shot is probably the most healthy meat you can get. No wonder she looks great.

Not to mention that every single piece of hunting and fishing gear you buy (rods, tackle, guns, ammo) has an extra tax added to it that goes to pay for the Wildlife Rufuges that Liberals from the big city so like to visit with their cameras.

The most recent pot luck at church had more venison than beef.

So true. I've often thought my dad would have loved to live in Alaska, with his love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. I think I would have loved it too.
