What else do you think Harry Reid wants to work on in this lamest of lame duck sessions? He’s got the time to do it and I’m sure he has a few slobbering big government Republicans that will go along, so why not? It’s now or never.

"White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday that dont ask, dont tell repeal was among a whole host of measures President Barack Obama believes can be accomplished before years end, but he put ratification of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty at the top of that list after taxes.
Fairly soon after [tax cuts], the Senate will move to the debate on START ratification, Gibbs said. This is a treaty that has the votes to pass the Senate and I believe will pass the Senate before we go home for the holidays.
The Senate was expected to take a vote Monday on the tax deal struck between the president and Republicans.
Asked where the DREAM Act and DADT repeal stood on the presidents priority list of achievable measures, Gibbs declined to be specific."
Theres not a list of 1, 2, 3, 4, he said. Theres are a series of things I think the president believes are important and can be done this year.
Well, I should say this I think its a distinct possibility dont ask, dont tell will be repealed by the end of this year, and thats where our efforts will be, he said."

In a nutshell Republicans who vote for this are voting for two years of temporary release from a tax increase in exchange for massively increasing the Federal debt even though Republicans will have the numbers after the lame duck session to pass a much more favorable tax bill that Obama probably won’t have the balls to veto and if he does will damage himself and the Democrats politically whether the economy goes further south or not.
Clearly the rinos didn’t get the message that a continuation of the “temporary” tax “cuts” system with a looming draconian expiration date is unacceptable. Permanentizing the current rates might have had some stimulative effect. The kind of garbage they’re pulling now is going to do nothing but convince investors and lenders to stay in their bunkers, it is only the eye of the storm.
