Reagan birth centennial stamp debuts
The Washington Times ^ | December 13, 2010 | Mark A. Kellner

Posted on 12/13/2010 12:06:08 PM PST by jazusamo

If it was "morning in America" for President Ronald Reagan, a new commemorative postage stamp due in February to mark "the Gipper's" birth centennial will forever view the sunrise.

The new commemorative stamp, whose design was unveiled Monday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., always will be valid for a 1-ounce first-class letter, the U.S. Postal Service confirmed. It officially will be released at the library on Feb. 10, 2011, four days after the 100th anniversary of Reagan's birth.

Texas artist Bart Forbes did the portrait, based on a 1985 photograph of Reagan taken at Rancho del Cielo, near Santa Barbara, Calif.

The design was published first in Linn's Stamp News, a hobbyist publication. Earlier this year, Linn's broke the news that a Reagan Centennial postage stamp would be released.

Although the preliminary design shows a 44-cent value, the postal agency recently announced that all commemorative, or special, issues will be inscribed with "Forever," instead of a face value, meaning they would sell for the then-current first-class rate but would remain valid for first-class mail even when rates increase.

A USPS spokesman who asked not to be identified by name said a revised version showing the "Forever" inscription will be released Dec. 28.

We had to calm down the one cat because she was horrifically upset about the birds outside.
Apparently the combination of hungry birds and falling snow irritates the poor insane cat.
(She has half a brain, her brother has the other half. One gets a thought, the other acts on it.)

Our cats don’t like snow, either. It confuses them!

NiMH can’t figure out why we don’t let him outside anymore since we moved.
But he always griped about snow outside.
Seems he figured that if we can make it warm and snow free indoors, we could do the same for outside.

I think all pets reason that way. Ours walk outside a few steps and then demand, “Turn the heat on, already!”

We have altered our pets in a fundamental way by inventing indoor plumbing, central heat and electric.
And our pets have come to depend on those utilities just as much as humans have.
And when one of those fails, the pets freak out.
Or at least mine do!

Maybe they are looking for "The Door Into Summer".

I got my hairs cut today. Well I assumed all of the were cut.

My dog, sugarfoot has two front feet with white spots on her paw and she has two rear feet with white spots. So she has front feet and back feet. That makes two feets. Maybe I should call her sugarfeets?

Possibly.
Cats especially always seem to be looking for something.

There really is a good place to go when one is sick! And people who really care!!

Don’t know why I posted this except that I think we all need to know that there are places where we can be cared for.

LOL! Today is the end of the line for this thread huh?

Sorry. I have been completely overwhelmed since my last post Sunday. When I got to my hotel room last night I was so tired I didn't even pull the laptop out of the back pack -- I just crashed.

Busy day of meetings that look like they'll end the coming long stretch at home. I may have a 2-day trip week after next and another week of 3/21. Oh well.

Wrapped up my work day with a 1-hour talk, noted in the conference's "daily newspaper." Good audience, good response. Drove back up to Utah, got dinner, checked in to hotel, and am ready to crash.

I'll have to see about the thread later.

Every year. Isn’t it awful? You could stay in bed like the kitteh ...

It rained last night, but it looks like we may get some Sunbeam Time later. Ash will be relieved.
