I am sorry, but the Dunkirk link is not correct. After all five years later the British and Free French were walking through the streets of Berlin as the city's occupying powers.

I personally much prefer the Battle of Bastogne.

In very simplistic terms the forces of good were totally surrounded and cut off by the forces of evil and everything hung on one man's courage. Because he had courage and didn't fold when his surrender was demanded the forces of good held on and six months they were walking through the streets of Berlin as the city's conquerors. What would our world look like if Gen McAuliffe hadn't said "Nuts!"?
