My County Government recieved $5.4M and “created or saved” 12.04 jobs. That’s $450,000 per job.
I think they would have to destroy the livelihoods of 9 taxpayers at $50,000 to fund each job. 9 X $50,000 = $450,000. Or, for 12 Jobs, they had to destroy the livelihoods of 12 x 9 = 108 private sector employees.
Gee, doesn’t seem like such a good deal.
If you want the truly staggering numbers check a capitol city like Atlanta.
I have been checking many cities.
Please cite your numbers.
What kind of jobs? How long did these jobs last? A few months? What did they pay? How much of that actually went into a salary?

My zip code in the outer suburbs of Atlanta got one grant for approx $1 million and zero jobs created (some education center I’ve never heard of).
The zip code of the Georgia State Capitol, 30303, received 168 awards for over $430 million. They claim 2,915.4 jobs. Who got the .4?
Next zip code over downtown, 30308, received another $124 million (155.12 jobs?).
County seat of Dekalb county (Atlanta metro area, heavily democrat), 30030, got another $40 million (85.25 jobs).
I am shocked and furious at what I have read so far.
Where are stewards of OUR MONEY? Our congressmen either have no oversight planned or are turning a blind eye. I believe every single penny should be accounted for or NONE of our money should be taken in the form of taxes. I mean it. This is WRONG!
I drilled down (I love saying “drilled down”! Drilled down, drilled down, drilled down!) thru some projects near me, and found quite an array of expenditures.
Some were pretty straightforward — $3 million to resurface part of a state highway that did definitely need it (but I don’t know whether it would’ve gotten done without money from other states’ taxpayers; they shouldn’t have had to pay for it, anyway).
Others were more obscure, like money to area school districts for enhancing access to job training for 3-5-year-olds, or something, and grants for judicial diversion programs, where some of the money went to the ACLU and something called “Justice 2000”. Other expenditures went to the “Pot Belly Cafe” for a meeting — I guess they provided the sandwiches — and to a printer for a job advertisement. Some of the descriptions were so encumbered by consultant-speak I couldn’t tell what they were even supposed to be for.
So not all of the money went to create new jobs. Some went to existing employers, and some was obviously just poured down various bureaucratic and NGO ratholes. I don’t know how you could ever tell how necessary or legitimate all the expenditures were.

From Tulare Co. California Proteus Inc took $3,628,407 but created no jobs. What is Proteus Inc?.....
“Proteus is an Iowa based private not-for-profit corporation providing a variety of services for low income people, primarily farmworkers.
Proteus strives to contribute towards a just society that celebrates diversity in all its forms and in which individuals can be engaged in work that provides them a sense of well-being, affords them opportunities for personal growth, and allows them to be full participants in the development of their communities; and a society in which all individuals can share in the American dream of home, family, good health, prosperity and security.”
Sounds like a lobbying group for 'ill-eagle aliens'.
It sure does.
Quadraplegic = 0.4 jobs.
0ne limb missing = 0.9 jobs.
Well for my zip code, they spent $686,000 for 1/2 job. Who would pay $686,000 for a "part time job"? This whole thing is a sick joke, and when you focus down on it like this the absurdity is striking. Do they really believe we are "that" stupid?
I'm gonna call my Rep Judy Biggert and complain.
'WE' want our 'fair share' of FREE stuff darn it.
Wow - my zip code apparently got $383,000 and NO JOBS. I wonder where the money went...
Thanks for the link. Amazing that the actual jobs created in Missouri amounted to less than ONE PERCENT of the cost of that job created. Where did the rest of the money get skimmed off to?
