A would-be robber was shot and killed by a male customer at an L.A. Tan in southwest suburban Orland Park Saturday, according to police.
At 6:36 p.m. Saturday, an employee at the tanning salon called police to report an armed robbery in progress at 15633 S. 94th Avenue, according to a release from Orland Park police.
The employee told police a male customer had wrestled a gun away from the would-be robber and shot the man, the release said.
When police arrived, they found a man with two gunshot wounds. He was subsequently taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 7:30 p.m.
The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the death of a man in his 40s at that location. His name was being withheld pending family notification.
According to police, the man entered the tanning salon and announced the robbery about 6:36 p.m. He allegedly pointed a handgun at a female employee and ordered her to tie the hands and feet of a woman who was using a tanning bed at the time. Minutes later, a male customer entered the business for his scheduled appointment.

You can bet the male customer was not this guy!
You got that right. Charlie would’ve dove behind a female customer and taken cover.
Man, that picture just screams GAY!
These tanning salons need to go on orange alert. (snark)
This story makes me smile! The good guy wins! Woo hoo!!!
Seriously though, I wonder how long it will take for this story to be scrubbed. A few years ago (maybe 2 years now) we had an event in Pittsburgh where a man ran a woman off the road because he perceived her as “cutting him off”. While she was on the side of the road, he got out of his vehicle & grabbed her by the hair thru the window & started smacking her. She had a carry permit & pulled her gun out, shooting him in the belly. He lived but by noon the next day, the story was gone from all Pgh media outlets. COuldn’t find it anywhere. Damn liberal press.
