Among the number of plant closings announced in the United States this week: A printing plant in Greenburg, Ind., costing 220 jobs; a tomato processing plant in Westover, Md., with 103 people fired; an office-supply facility in Mattoon, Ill., with 129 jobs lost.

I don’t disagree with the need for some form of domestic allegiance by corporations. This is really an issue for the largest. Mid-size, small, and tiny are by nature circulating within save the illegal labor problem.
I have mixed feelings about the union labor the contributed to the fall of the industrial infrastructure. No reasonable person would ever take away the dedication and sweat so many have given, and still give today. This virtue, however, has been squandered to feed the labor greed that compliments irresponsible investment greed.
Both extremes of global investment and labor are dividing the Country. We citizens need to wake up to this fact.
You gave a flip answer to a serious question. I would watch who you call communist Komrade rude piece-of-sh!t.
Sure, these feelings help us embrace traditional virtues that are timeless, and it's also fun to enjoy good old mindless romantic emotions when we say, pretend that a thousand years ago there were knights in shining armor rescuing fair damsels. We can later put that stuff back in perspective when we actually have to look into historical records and we see that what happened was not quite so dreamlike.
Romanticizing the family farm of the 1800's or the mills/factories/railroads or the 1900's has it's place too. Just the same, policy for the here and now has got to include a solid connection to reality or else we're just throwing away our hard earned wealth and making millions suffer needlessly.
Funny how so many people actually believe that Marxist line even though most American citizens are both employed by and are owners of those very same American corporations.
Go figure.
American companies are not being given a chance to compete in China. That is clear to everyone. But I'll tell you this: if you like the Chinese system so much, why don't you move there? You could wave your Little Red Book at anyone you like.
By picking apart phrases, you’re transforming my remarks on loss of industrialization into a pathetic sense of romantic despair.
You’re manipulating my point.
You've probably had the experience on the Freerepublic where sometimes you don't quite follow what someone's saying and then they accuse you of intentionally corrupting their point --maybe with "I never said that don't put words in my post". When that happens to me I just figure if I can't stand other people's feelings getting hurt over miscommunication's then I got no business on the Freerepublic.
Cheers!
