I am all for more people of color joining the GOP, but I am against the further Rinofication of the party. We need more Tea Party patriots, not moderates. to swing the tide towards a solid constitutional conservatism.

Democrats becoming Republicans is good news as they are moving to the right. Who knows how far right their journey will take them? You have to have faith in the conservative message.

I don’t care what color they are, we don’t need dems jumping into the Party. It will not further conservative goals unless they truly hold conservative values and ideals.
I bet they voted for Obama so that tells you they are NOT conservatives and quite frankly I question their motives. Is this just to get reelected?

Two African-American Democrats on Thursday announced that they were joining the Republican Party.

Racists! Oh, wait...

So the National Socialist Party of America is just *now* too far left for them?

Eff 'em. We don't need black Snows and Collinses.

The [Democrat] party had conservatives and liberals both in the party.

Not for a loooooooooong time, it hasn't.

Certainly we need to wary of deathbed conversions, but I have long argued that there are large elements of both the black and hispanic communities that are natural conservatives, both social and fiscal. They are uncomfortable in the democrat party but have felt that they have no choice. I am glad to see that they are finally waking up. Look for the Republican party to be the party of diversity in the future, not in theory, but in fact. We are united not by color or tribe, but by a commitment to conservative principles. That is diversity in unity (e pluribus unem), not unity for diversity’s sake (unem pro pluribus). The dems will will never achieve principled unity because they have no foundation. They are united only by their jealousy and hatred of the better off. So those are the choices: principled hard work and recognition of achievement, or lazy redistribution of wealth. Many in the black and hispanic communities are deeply committed to the former and not the later. I say, let them come over.

Fine and dandy, but just don’t think we’re going to go liberal because we have a few Black Democrat converts joining!

If these guys start trying to act on their liberal (Congressional Black Caucus) tendencies, I say we leave them and the GOP establishment to their own devises as a tiny monority party. We’ll have our own conservative majority!

Baby steps are right. This is happening in Chicago where a coalition of Black pastors is supporting James Meeks.

Meeks is a pastor and is against homosexual marriage, abortion and is pro-family. In response there is a black coalition of activist women Democrats who now are backing Rahm Emmanuel as the progressive candidate against Meeks who they paint as homophobic and misogynistic.

Meeks believes in marriage, two parent male/female households. If the GOP would effectively exploit this trend it could break the Dems hold on black America.

That would be he best and healthiest thing to happen to blacks in 50 years. It would return conservative blacks back to the Republican fold from whence they came.

We live in exciting times. Is the IL GOP listening?
