St. Paul, Minn. Minnesota 5th District Congressman Keith Ellison said Thursday that Democratic lawmakers "need to create a real crisis" to force Republicans to renegotiate the tax cut compromise.
House Democrats voted Thursday to reject the tax cut deal between the White House and Congressional Republicans.
The compromise would extend Bush-era tax cuts for all Americans, including the wealthy. It also would renew benefits for the long-term unemployed, a measure President Obama had pushed for to prevent about 2 million Americans from losing benefits in the coming weeks. Republicans had opposed extending unemployment benefits.
Ellison, who was recently elected co-chair of the Progressive caucus in the House, voted against the compromise.
"I think that we need to create a real crisis here so that the Republicans will have to answer for denying Americans unemployment benefits on the eve of the Christmas holiday," Ellison said. "We let them off the hook, in my opinion."

Yes. He is a social justice type redistribution puke in a district of recumbent feeders.
Damn traitor.
MN looks like a mixed bag. How can one state give us a wonderful Congresswoman such as Michele Bachmann and a fool like Ellison? Amazing.
Creating a crisis is the only thing leftists do well.
It’s much easier than solving problems.
Where is his district?
Minneapolis, it is to the left of San Fran.
Figures.
The Dems already did that with loans to the unqualified, and all of the fraud with Lehman.
This time a larger percentage of Americans are wise to the fraud.
As for Ellison, he should be charged with conspiracy to commit sedition.
Okay, create your little crisis ala October 2008.
We will work mightily to influence our new overlords to resist you anyway.
If they don’t, then they can assume their new political career will be short lived.
Minneapolis is just about in the center of it.
Ironically, the 6th next door is Michele Bachmann's district.
The jolt is that over half of American voters put them inside the gates. Now I know, they say, that the communist left accounts for less than 20% of the people, and we are the rest. So, just wait until they cut off Rush, or mess with our ability to communicate.
Sand in their gas tank will be putting it mild, I should think.
This guy is a stupid Leftist. He is violating the most important tenant of the Marxist: power must be obtained through deception.
This guy will end up making himself a useful idiot of conservatives by showcasing his nefarious intentions.
Keith Maurice Ellison (born August 4, 1963) is the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district, serving since 2007. He is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. The district centers on Minneapolis. He was re-elected again in 2010.
He is the first Muslim to be elected to the United States Congress. He is also the first African American elected to the House from Minnesota.

I think the repuclicans should wait until they are in power and make the Congress vote for the continuation of the Bush tax cuts so all the pork barrel spending of the communist democrat party can be cut out and the approximately 33% of dead head Americans (you know, I do not vote because they are all crooks type) can be jolted back to reality as it is by the extreme sudden rise of taxes in their paychecks. Then perhaps some of them might use their God given minds to think and discern and see what reality really is .
Even the President agrees.
After the Kenyan born Barack Obama departed for a Christmas Party, President Clinton was asked by
In my opinion, this is a good bill and I hope that my fellow Democrats will support it, Mr. Clinton said. We all see this differently. But I really believe this will be a significant net plus for the country.
Mr. Clinton went on for at least 20 minutes, moving at one point beyond the tax debate and offering his opinion on the administrations new arms control treaty with Russia and the ongoing crisis in Haiti.
In fact, he was addressed by the press pool bizarrely “Mr. President. What do you think can be done to shore up the financial markets?”. As if Bill still sleeps in the White Hut and is running things at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
That question came as Barack Sauntered off to a Christmas party and “President Bill Clinton” held the stage for another 30 minutes after Barack Obama’s departure.
“There’s never a perfect bipartisan bill in the eyes of a partisan,” Clinton said. “But I really believe this will be a significant net-plus for the country.”
Really? Well, shouldn’t the so called present make that type of announcement?
Shouldn’t the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania lead us?
Thanks Bill. For all your BS you still were and are a natural politician.
Well said, the left thinks that government gives Americans their lands and monies and should take it back as soon as the taxpayer dies. It is the marxist communist way of thinking and is taught by the elite communist run public school systems thugs and thieves teachers unions.
Pople like Ellison will go too far and at some point Americans will demonstrate that they are not going to take their efforts to subvert our success any more.
I think its only a matter of time when you see people like Pelosi enact damaging policy that willingly damages our lives, people like Sanders espousing open Marxism in America, and Ellison defying the will of the people.
Hurt Americans so that they can use that pain to recapture political power? Not a good plan Mr Ellison.
These types of political leaders are going to incite America and IMO that will not end well for them or anyone.
The is the path that the Extremist Fanatical Left - aka the Democrat Party - has chosen.
Hey, he has much in common with the Obamantion administration, doesn’t he.
