Federal Court Grants Governor Jan Brewer’s Motion to Dismiss Several Challenges to SB 1070

PHOENIX – Governor Jan Brewer today announced that the federal district court has granted her motions to dismiss the challenges to SB 1070 filed by Phoenix police officers David Salgado, Corbet Clack, and Paul Dobson and Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., and the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders et al. The court also dismissed several claims filed by the United States against the State of Arizona.

“I am pleased with today’s decisions,” stated Governor Brewer. “I strongly believe that the citizens of Arizona will ultimately prevail in all of these legal challenges. My defense of the rule of law will continue as vigorously as ever.”

Brewer just posted this on her facebook account.

I searched for SB1070, Brewer, Arizona, and didn't see this posted.

The link is to a press release in pdf format. I excerpted the first two paragraphs.

A win is a win and this is a good one. Let’s hope that Brewer wins them all. Other states are following this case and are already writing similar immigration enforcement laws.

Has anyone asked her to run as the Republican VP in 2012? I’d like Chris Christie and her. They’d clean the clocks of the Demonrats, the Commies and the Islamofascists and still have time for the people.

Hope, ever hopeful.

Probably not directly related, but the other day, SC Justice Scalia made a scathing comment in open court about the failure of the Federal Government to guard the border. My post then was that it was a shot across the bow and the Obama Administration had better take heed!

It’s interesting that we see this only on her facebook or her website. No news outlet carried it that I can find. I wonder when these decisions were handed down.

I have great admiration for this courageous and great elected public offical who keeps her word to her oath of office and actually believes in a nation of United States, complete with an enforceable border without compromise!!!

We love Jan here in Arizona. She rose to the occasion when Big Sis left us for 0bama and she has done pretty well since then. Actually grown in office, in a good way. However, her performance in the debates during the last election suggest that you should look elsewhere for a VP candidate.

‘Lack of standing’ payback.

In today’s orders Judge Susan Bolton agreed with the Governor that the Phoenix police officers, Chicanos Por La Causa, and all of the plaintiffs in the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders action lack standing to bring the suits and rejected every one of their standing arguments.

“Those Three Phoenix P.D. Stooges need to be fired for not wanting to do their job. Low lifes.”

Good luck with that.

They are in the protected class called “government employees” which means employment, great pay, great benefits, retire much earlier and with much higher than mere private citizens.

Omigosh! What great courage for this judge to rule in this manner!

“In today’s orders Judge Susan Bolton agreed with the Governor that the Phoenix police officers, Chicanos Por La Causa, and all of the plaintiffs in the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders action lack standing to bring the suits and rejected every one of their standing arguments.”

The “special interest groups” LACK STANDING!!!

That’s a new one!

Does this mean that Mexico lacks standing, too? lol

Thank you so much for the ping! I had not heard of this.

I will say one thing, though...

“I have great admiration for this courageous and great elected public offical who keeps her word to her oath of office and actually believes in a nation of United States, complete with an enforceable border without compromise!!!”

What an awesome comment!!! I can honestly say that I agree with you whole-heartedly!

I don’t understand...... Could someone please explain all of this......

From AP
“PHOENIX (AP) A federal judge has dismissed parts of the U.S. Department of Justice’s challenge to Arizona’s new immigration law.

U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton’s ruling on Friday struck down the federal government’s challenge to the portion of the law that prohibits the transport of illegal immigrants.

But Bolton’s ruling didn’t have any effect on the portions of the law that she previously prevented from taking effect, including a requirement that immigrants get or carry immigration registration papers.

In that ruling in July, Bolton let other portions take effect, including a ban on obstructing traffic while seeking or offering day-labor services on public streets.

Bolton on Friday denied Gov. Jan Brewer’s request to dismiss challenges to the law’s most controversial sections.”

Wow, maybe the Supreme court has so morals after all. i hope they shoot this down and the stupid, stupid, STUPID judge that chose to say shar’ia law can somehow exist in conjunction with our constitution. It’s horrid what is happening and maybe, just maby with our prayers, keeping up the pressure and voting these cumballs out will help America get back to her roots, but I fear Oburkha and cronies are not finished spewing their bible passagese from Alinsky to Marx, from Stalin to Mao.

SW - did you see post 15 above?

Is this a case of focusing only on the positive and ignoring the negative?
(I have not been following this, at all)
