They’re screwing themselves out of advertising revenue, particularly PPI. Much of the traffic to these news sites comes from blogs where the first paragraph is posted and readers go to the original site to read the article. Each page view is worth money.

The objective is to bankrupt the recipient of their lawsuits. If they have a deep pocket backer they can go after anyone and tie them up in court. Drudge will have to expend money on lawyers defending himself. If we had a loser pays legal system it would not be an issue, but we don’t and the left uses it to their advantage. It doesn’t work from our side because most judges are leftists and they own the judicial system.
What this guy is doing is a felony.
What Julian Assange is doing is protected under the 1st Amendment.

Until Righthaven loses a case which sets precedent that their suits are worthless they’re going to keep chumming the water with litigation to collect $5000 here and there from websites that will settle rather than fight.
Most likely that the gravy train will soon be over for them but they’ll run it until it derails completely.
