Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has been admitted to a hospital where he will undergo minor surgery to deal with a kidney stone.
Treasury spokesman Steve Adamske said Geithner began experiencing severe pain from a kidney stone during the night and was admitted to George Washington University hospital Friday morning.
Adamske said that Geithner will have what he called a "minor surgical procedure" performed Friday afternoon and expects to be back at work on Monday.

Turbo Tax Timmy should take all the time he needs. If he didn't want to come back at all I would be perfectly OK with that. In fact I bet there are a lot of people who would pitch in a few bucks for his early retirement.

He had better hope that the surgeon is a Republican.

Did Berwick make a determination that Geithner is not in the last 5 years of his life - so the surgery can go forward?

If the kidney stone moves from the kidney down into the ureter, it feels like you a pissing a grass-burr. For those of you not familiar with Texas grass-burrs, it feels like tiny chards of glass going in a dozen directions. As it moves thru the ureter to the confluence with the bladder, the area becomes narrow and often "hangs up". If it cannot be passed the urologist passes an instrument thru the penis, into the bladder, and thru this instument passes a basket the "capture" the stone. My recommendation is to let Geitner try for about 2 weeks to pass this "grass[burr". At least he would be trying to accomplish something worthwhile.
For those of you reveling in Scheidenfreud it is said this pain is along the same degree has having a sudden massive coronary artery occlusion.

He’s having this done in a hospital? I thought he would have used the internet edition of Turbo-Surgeon Deluxe.
