I'm sorry, but any proposal to reduce significantly reduce the deficit that does not include both tax increases and spending cuts is just grandstanding.

Which is mostly what were are now getting for both sides.

To me DeMint is the true defacto leader of the Senate, certainly the one giving the best voice to the conservative cause. While I would do just about anything to see Obama fail (he really doesn't need my help), its not that that gets me all wound up. It's the debt load being foisted on my children and grandchildren.

I can remember when people were up in arms over a deficit of about ten billion dollars (which, at the time, did seem like an incredible amount of money). Today, we talk in terms of hundreds of billions like it was nothing. The new vocabulary is about trillions. Who can actually even fathom what a trillion dollars is?
