Haiti certainly gives the appearance of being God forsaken. Besides, God has a history of turning his back on people. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

You do have a point. But, we cannot know when that time is. We have been ordered to take the Gospel into all the world, to the farthest reaches, to all the islands and to every tribe, tongue and nation. And, I believe, that as long as someone is prompted by the Holy Spirit to go, they must go. To do otherwise is dangerous. Remember Jonah?
So we go. We go and share Christ, and we keep sharing Christ until He returns and gathers His ransomed people in. What a glorious day that will be!
