....Obama was an orthodox Marxist-Leninist in his early college years; that he certainly attended two socialist conferences, which converted him to community organizing; that these conferences sketched a vision of socialist-friendly political coalitions led by African-Americans who would emerge from the ranks of community organizers; that the groups, strategies, and theologies Obama spent a lifetime cultivating were presented at these conferences as the program of a modernized socialism; that Obama worked for his entire career with the very stealth-socialist community organizers in Chicago who had authored the political strategy presented at those early socialist conferences; that these stealth-socialist community organizers sponsored Obamas political rise; that Obama supported these socialists by channeling foundation money their way for years; that Obama worked closely with this stealth-socialist community-organizing network throughout his time as an Illinois state senator; that Obama has hidden, and particularly in the case of ACORN, bluntly lied about these radical connections; that the tactics, policies, and strategies crafted by Obamas stealth-socialist organizing mentors have guided his entire political career, including his presidency; and that the same stealth-socialist community organizers who inspired and sponsored Obamas political career advised his 2008 presidential campaign and continue to work with him at shaping and marshaling support for his presidential agenda.

Frum is Canadian.
Yes, I realize that. It explains a lot.
bump
Frum is a statist and Romney supporter. Enough said.

When was the last time you read this rag?
In the 80s/90s, we lived to read the next copy.
Frank Marshall Davis, who was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party in the U.S., was Obama’s political mentor.

What is a ‘Frum’? Some sort of holiday season beverage made with wine or ale and spices?
You may be on to something. Definitely should be investigated.
Also, I wonder if maybe we can invent a new word - “Frummery.” I mean if Sarah Palin and George Bush can, why can’t we?
It would be sort of a transmogrification of “flummery.”

I remember back in the 70’s when Carter was president, his communications director was a guy named Gerald Rafshoon.

His media spin was called “Rafshoonery.”
Marxist, sure. But Leninist? Does Stanley even know what an "orthodox Marxist-Leninist" was?
And who's to say Obama needed the conferences to be converted to community organizing?
Thanks mojito.
Speaking of John Frum, I was on a Cargo Cult tangent recently, and came across a group from the same island (Tanna) who sincerely believe that Prince Philip is the Lord Incarnate. They sent him a war club as a gift, he sent back a portrait of himself holding it. To them, well, that's the Shroud of Turin.
Eventually- the Beeb or somebody got the idea to fly a delegation from this normally-loincloth-clad tribe to England. They did a really fun reverse-cultural-anthropolgy piece called Meet the Natives. Little bit lefty-preachy in parts, but overall good fun.
The root of the problem (Frum's confusion and resulting poorly argued articles and positions -JB), I think, is that Frums analysis of conservatisms dilemma in 2008 has served him poorly. Frums ostensible purpose is to build a conservatism that can win again. But we already won, and did so by taking a very different route than that recommended by Frum.
A look at Frums 2008 book Comeback helps to measure the distance weve traveled in two years. In Comeback, Frum warns against reviving a more principled Reagan-style conservatism as the Tea Party has just done, with great success. Most Americans [want] the federal government to spend more rather than tax less, said Frum in 2008. On issues like health care and the environment, Frum declared, conservatives find themselves on the less popular side of the great issues of the day. I rule the article a TKO in the second round to the victor, Kurtz!
>> Frum is Canadian <<
Yep, just like Mark Steyn and Shania Twain!
That will last until the natives weary of excuses why David can't produce flocks of C-47s that dispense crates of Hershey bars and sunglasses and Coca-Cola and all manner of the kind of conveniences that we take to war in huge amounts.
Surely he could baffle the natives with a blizzard of *Frummery* and make them forget all about the goodies from the sky?
Thanks JB.

Just a few minutes ago. I actually read Stanley Kurtz’s excellent critique of David Frum that’s the subject of this thread.
I also read Mark Steyn’s column every time it appears. Anything objection?
