Obama skips debt commission meeting
CNN ^ | Dec. 9, 2010 | Ed Henry

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Obama did not attend a White House meeting Thursday with members of his own debt commission, irking some of the Democrats on the panel who were expecting a high-level push from the commander-in-chief to show that its comprehensive deficit reduction plan is being taken seriously by the White House.

"He should have at least dropped by," one Democratic member of the debt commission told CNN, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he wanted to speak more freely about the panel's private meeting.

A second senior Democratic aide close to the panel added that commission members were miffed and privately believe the President did not attend because it would have been awkward "given the fact that he has just endorsed $900 billion in deficit spending" with the tax cut deal.

legislative bipartisanship and executive leadership... under the bus!

Gibbs should do a press release in the absence of The One:

“Were it not for the failed policies of my predecessor, along with partisan Republicans, a few teabagger extremists, and other enemies, umm opponents, the buck would stop here.”

This can go one of two ways: either the Lefties succeed in pushing him Left or the Lefties succeed in pushing him into the arms of the center.

If the Left keeps this up, they could even make people start feeling sorry for da man.

Any way you slice it, a party in public uproar against its own President is a risky gambit.

Personally, I am hoping for some public meltdown that will make clear to all but his most love-blind supporters that he is incompetent. Otherwise there will be conspiracy theories ad infinitium.

He won’t complete his term. There are a number of ways that this could play out, but I say Biden will be president, at least for a short while.

Oh, he'll no doubt complete the term ... but I suspect that by the end he'll be about as effective as Woodrow Wilson was toward the end of his last term. The only question is, who will be Obama's equivalent of Edith Wilson?

I vote Valerie Jarrett, but there are probably others...

I suppose he's weak enough to pass on that meeting,(.ie have a problem looking them in the eye) 24 hours after doing THAT.

Obama doesn't think the debt commission is worth his time. The were a media prop used to create a narrative meant to fool Americans into believing Obama gives a damn about the deficit.
