LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A tearful Oprah Winfrey has denied she is a lesbian, saying that constant rumors about her close relationship with a female friend were irritating "because it means that somebody must think I am lying."
The influential TV talk host addressed the nature of her 20-year relationship with Gayle King in an emotional interview with journalist Barbara Walters that will be broadcast on ABC television on Thursday.
"She is the mother I never had. She is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person," Winfrey said of King, fighting back tears.
"It's making me cry because I'm thinking about how much I probably have never told her that. Tissue please," she added.
King and Winfrey, 56, met while working at a local Baltimore TV station in the 1980s and have been inseparable professionally and personally, sparking much media speculation that they are gay.

Normally I’d say, even if you are, nobody cares Oprah. However, I know she has millions of mindless followers clinging to her every word.

I knew a sea captain’s wife. When he was away she would drink wine on her porch. I walked my dogs past the porch each day. I was immoral and lonely in those days. One day she invited me up for a drink. The evening progressed and we went back to my place (she had children). Things were headed where you would expect when she mentioned her husband’s name. His first name was the same as my fathers. I escorted her home without doing anything and slipped into a gently circling bed from the booze.
A few weeks later a neighbor told me that the kids had found her in bed with another neighbor. That neighbor wasn’t a guy.
So I’m saying marriage has little to do with it when you come down to brass tacks, especially when you are dealing with a billionaire that can make whatever arrangements she wants to.
I think Oprah produced "The Color Purple", but I wasn't aware of any others she produced.
Paying homage to her friend and confidant Michael Jackson.....
No one likes to be called something they are not..she can correct the media over and over but it is the media or highly paid jokesters in the media that like to play the story, heard one from a late night host refering to “one on one” Oprah and Gayle. Has to get real old.
Has nothing to do with being Right or Left.
Even from Walters to pursue it is “boring”..she doesn’t have an original question left in her head. Yawns. Who watches her anymore?

And that belt looks like it’s straight from the 2010 Moochelle Suicide collection. Why is O’s white “blouse” hanging down below the belt? Did she forget to tuck it in or is it a fashion statement?
Why is it Bab’s business if O is a lesbian? I thought being a homosexual is a private matter.

I can’t believe I didn’t see that! It does look like it’s ripping, or was that “prize-fighter” belt separate all along? I was very distracted by her inflated balloons!
There were once rumors that NYC Council Speaker, Christine Quinn, an openly lesbian woman, might be straight.
She vehemently denied these rumors, but added, ‘even though there is NOTHING wrong with being straight.’
Not a fan of Quinn, but that was a good line!
