The Israeli Air Force and Defense Ministry have instructed their military attachés stationed throughout the world to begin conducting a survey of firefighting aircraft that Israel is considering purchasing following the Carmel Forest fires.
One of the leading candidates is the Bombardier 415 also known as the Canadair CL-415 which is made in Canada and is believed to be suitable for Israel since it has the ability to scoop up water from the sea.

Makes a lot more sense than that 767 idea the story mentions. Combine a few scoopers with half a dozen type 2 helicopters (like super hueys), and they’ll be in business.
You would think they would consider the Russian BE-200, which can also scoop water directly from the sea.
Especially since the Russians were kind enough to come and help with their recent fire.
And you can be sure they aren’t going to be crying over some damned fish if they need the water to put out a fire.
Depends on who can deliver in the timeframe, and on prices, I suppose.
Next time there’s a riot in Gaza they can use the waterscoopers to cool off all those muzzie hotheads.
