Oh goody. No thank you!
I have no intention of ever buying a new car ever again. Too expensive. And it is about to get a lot more expensive.
I’ll just continue to fix my old cars.

Yet another distraction for idiot drivers!

I hear you. I’m at 135,000 and hope to get 300,000 miles on my car.
The thought of going in debt to buy some outrageous priced car is crazy.

If ad when I need another vehicle, I'll have my boss at work (I work in an auto parts store) look for something simple like a 1980's era Chevy Cavalier/Celebrity (or related cars) that is still in good shape and just drive that and try to fix up my 1977 Mercury Cougar. Parts for those are common and I hope I find with with the 2.5 liter "Iron Duke."
I feel sorry for the poor kid that got run over, but his old man (and woman) is an oaf for not watching him. We had a 1968 Buick Wildcat when I was little, my parents always minded me around the car.
