Something’s missing from Chicago’s mayoral candidate forums: Rahm Emanuel.
On at least three nights next week — Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday — just about all of the major candidates for mayor, except the former White House chief of staff, have agreed to sit side-by-side at community forums and take questions from voters or panelists.
But Emanuel is taking a pass, as he has done with other forums this week and last.
“I don’t think he’ll do any of them,” Emanuel spokesman Ben Labolt said of next week’s forums.

He’s probably going to be too busy sucking the breath out of small children to be bothered with a debate.

No, he’s not. He’s guaranteed the spot. Chitown politics, you know. He doesn’t have to do anything but look perty. Zero and all those dead voters will make sure he gets in.
The forums mentioned all started too early...the sun wasn’t down yet.
He’s not afraid of voters. He’s entitled to the position, KNOWS he’s going to win and he has more fun things to do with his time until his coronation day.
Thanks PBRCat. He doesn’t want to associate with a lower class of people. And remember, he’s a Chicago-area politician, so...

The dead and multi-voters are already lined up. The car trunks are stuffed full of Emanuel ballots to find if he’s a bit short. They have all the votes they need whether anybody votes for him at all, so why should he bother himself?
The election is his to steal.
One day that sewer will be cleaned up.

He’s an Illinois Democrat.
Illinois Democrats don’t do debates, because at debates you have to answer questions and take positions on issues.
He’ll just avoid all forums, and spend his money sending out attack pieces casting himself as a reformer and demonizing his opponents by distorting their positions.
Why should he? I think it’s smart. If he has settled the residency issue, then let the others fight it out.
I’m sorry. I’m from Chicago. I’m definitely not an Emmanuel fan by any stretch, but I can guarantee you, the city will be trashed if the likes of Carol Mosely Braun or anyone else from the liberal black democratic heap becomes mayor.
I don’t know too much about the black conservative who is thinking of running...For Chicago if you’re not a democrat forget it....
IT comes down to the lesser of two evils. Emmanuel compared to all the other DEMOCRATs is the best candidate at this time for mayor....
I’d like to hear from other Chicagoans....and be honest. You want another era like the Harold Washington period? The city was trashed. GArbage in the streets. CRime worse than now.
Daly cleaned the city up. Downtown Chicago is among the most beautiful in the world, by a long shot....

The mayor of Chicago should be for all the people.
