Spying is much easier because of the internet. Wikileaks is just one of many creatures that will come from that swamp.
One word: "gamers"
I originally thought there was a baseline thinking of open-ness and collegial curiosity. That was just the patina, they are largely angry loners that hate all authority.
They are seriously gifted technically, but since they refuse all sense of ownership in any system, they warp themselves in any direction that hate takes them.
not surprising that they censor opposing opinions.
