TOPIC: Are Women Less Competitive Than Men? Explaining the Gender Gap in the Workplace. / www.home.uchicago.edu/~jlist/
8:06-9:00 a.m. Open Lines / Clips / Callers
Caller asks Jesse if he forgave his father and did. Oh this is the guy who called the police on his step daughter. Jesse has been talking to him about what is right and wrong about remarrying a woman with children. He says its hard for kids to speak up to their mothers. THey can tell dads every little thing on their minds, but not their moms...
Guest says he belongs to a union and they believe they can get his job back. But he can't get unemployment insurance or health insurance...while waiting for grievance to complete.
Highly respected economist. He is from Wisconsin, Phd 1996 U of Wyoming. Worked for President Bush (2) in dept of economics. Married with 5 kids, 4-11 yrs.
Jesse asks him why did he do this study. He says women earn roughly 80% of what men make. Is it because of education? He came around to thinking that women are less competative than men. Posted real jobs on craigslist.com. Posted office support jobs. After receiving thousands of resumes, interviewed and asked if they were paid a certain amount, they were offered more if they were more competative. Men were more competative. SO MEN ARE MORE COMPETATIVE AND WHY THERE IS A GENDER GAP IN THE LABOR MARKET.
Jesse's excited with these results.
John says what part is nature or which is nuture.
Jesse says that women tend to teach children to work as a team, whereas men teach competition better themselves. JOhn says men are less likely to compete when put on a team. Jesse asks which is better, team personality or competative approach. Jesse says he ran track and you have to act as a team to some extent.
Jesse says he thinks God made men differently than he made women...asks guest.
A tribe where women run a certain village finds that those women evolved in a different way to have more testosterone. But his conclusions are that men are different than women....
Jesse points out these tribes led by women are not progressing to level others in world are. They are underdeveloped...
John likes Jesse's conclusions. Jesse talks abut the order and how when he was growing up on the plantation because they had thaT order it worked out well. But when government stepped in, and changed the order everything started going downhill.
Next hour jesse will talk about the fallen messiah, extended the tax cuts.
Now Jesse has found one of the smartest economist this side of heaven. JOhn likes Jesse too. He is doing work on discrimination and charitable fund raising. Looks like a match made in common sense land!
Watson and the Shark, 1778 Oil on canvas; 71 3/4 x 90 1/2 in. (182.1 x 229.7 cm) National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., Ferdinand Lammot Belin Fund (1963.6.1)
Image courtesy of the Board of Trustees, National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
The picture tells a tale from Watson's youth: in 1749 the orphaned fourteen-year-old boy was crewing for a merchant marine in Havana Harbor, Cuba, when he was attacked by a shark while swimming. Watson was dragged under water three times and lost a leg before his fellow crewmen were able to save him by stabbing the shark with a boat hook. On public view in 1778, the painting promoted Copley, just three years after he left Boston. It also redeemed Watsona controversial character reviled by some for dishonorable business practices and unethical political motivesby showing that he had been delivered from the jaws of death, a salvation accorded only those of high moral fiber and undeniable goodness.
JEsse is giving thanks to republicans for Obamas weak stance on taxes. But he forgets the he extended unemployment another year...!
No, now he is talkin' about it. $150 BILLION it will cost to do this for 1 year! Plays clip of Bill Mahr talkking about tax cuts...he still likes Obama
More back to dogs and comments from his "friends" on Facebook....LOL
Guy is talking about his dog and how he takes dog to dentist. Disagrees with Jesse in general. Thinks Jesse goes too far.
Well, I have to be off on my day! Hope everyone has great day.
Thanks for the ping, abigail2 :)
