I picked up my first ship in the Philippines and after a trip to Australia and New Zealand we preceded to our homeport of Pearl Harbor, HI. We arrived during the filming of Tora, Tora, Tora and it was almost overwhelming to see Japanese Zeros flying over us as we entered the channel. I was unaware that the film was being made ... an experience I will never forget. LOL!

I have the original movie ‘Toro Toro’....still watch it pretty frequently as well as the newer version ‘Pearl Harbor’. Both excellent movies and pretty accurate.

Good morning, doc....a Navy ship, Pearl Harbor, Japanese Zeros.
Overwhelming seems an understatement. Thanks for sharing your experience. And we thank you for your service to our country.
