New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has swiftly become a superstar in the political firmament. His stands for the taxpayers and against wasteful government spending have exhibited the type of tough decision-making people have been waiting for among our politicians; his forceful stands against the public unions and the stranglehold they have over our lives and futures have become YouTube hits. He is the real Governator, not like that pretender in California.
Governor Christie has been touted as a future GOP candidate for the presidency. But Barack Obama knows of only one kind of preemptive war: against those who threaten his throne. Therefore, Christie has become a target of Obama and his team of minions.
The latest attack? The U.S. Department of Transportation (headed by Obama's political ally from Illinois, Ray Lahood) now wants to make New Jersey repay $271 million in federal funds already spent on a proposed Hudson River tunnel that Christie scrapped because of spiraling and never-ending cost overruns. The feds want the money now and will start charging "vig" soon.
The New York Post reports:
"The US Department of Transportation is demanding that Trenton repay $271 million in federal funds already spent on the proposed Hudson River commuter tunnel -- a project Christie scrapped because of spiraling cost overruns.
Adding insult to injury, DOT insisted that Jersey pay the bill within 30 days -- or face hefty interest charges and late fees and have NJ Transit reported to bond-rating agencies.
Not so fast, says Christie.
'It's not surprising that the same federal transit agency that had no clear way to pay for cost overruns of a project already hurt by poor planning and inequitable cost-sharing is relying on bureaucratic power plays to wring even more money out of New Jerseyans,' he said.
Christie notes that other states that have similarly pulled the plug on federally funded transportation projects have not been forced to repay money that's already been spent.
The strict 30-day deadline reeks of petty vindictiveness aimed at a governor who's increasingly being spoken of as a 2012 GOP presidential candidate.
Or, as Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg nastily observed, it would be a shame if .taxpayers ultimately have to foot the bill for the governor's mistake.'
This federal overreach is not the first orchestrated by the Obama team against Christie.....
Yes, and the Agenda is clear; rule America by dictate and eliminate competition for 2012 competition.
The obamanation administration has declared war on all patriotic Americans who hold to the Constitutional laws and liberties our Christian American forefathers fought and died for. It extends beyond Christie, the man in the white house is a psychopath and states his opinions through the evil he does. You shall know them by their fruits. His fruits are violence against Americans and force against the average citizen. We have an elected communist administration as demonstrated by the gruesome threesome abomination and all their minions in the executive, legislative and judicial branches who hold to the same socialism that is destroying our once Christian nation. It is an evil time, when the wicked are in power, the people groan. And Americans are groaning indeed. It is time for the majority to rise up against the liars and thieves in the blue state communist state and throw them all out of America. Build a fence on the south border and put the communists on the south side and let them see how the world really is.
The end of America as a free nation is near methinks.
If you are referring to the “It’s an amazing world” remak on Fallon’s show, I thought it was unnecessary.
But who is more self-effacing than Christie? He says “I’m fat” and jokes about his girth.
Maybe it’s just his NE Yankee way. Maybe it was nothing. OR, maybe he IS thinking about running and is starting to view Sarah Palin as a rival.
If there is a problem, it’s too bad, because they have a lot in common as governors. They have guts and took on entrenched interests at considerable personal risk. We all saw what the nuisance lawsuits cost Palin. And, being in an OC dominated, union state, I’d be shocked if Christie hasn’t been threatened with violence more than once.
Hell, Corzine could pay that off in a couple of installments and barely feel it.
. . .and if Chris Christie did not want to run/serve as President before this; am sure now, he is fighting mad and ready to go for the big one; and hopefully he will; and let these roaches run for cover. . .
It really is simple once you look and consider. They are a people who are given over to hatred of God and therefore hate their fellow man. Hatred of God and His only begotten Son Jesus Christ is exactly what the communist democrat left and rino right exemplify in their statements and in their actions against their fellow man. Their love of money and power and self is beyond measure and God in the person of Christ will give them their just due for their abominable works against Christ Jesus which is always shown by their treatment of their fellow man.
What do you think about the snaide remarks he made about Sarah Palin on Jimmy Fallon’s show?
Do you think that shows he might actually want to run and now sees Palin as an opponent?
Interesting, because I think they should be allies in that they first gained attention by fighting corruption and special interests.
But in primary season, it’s “b___s to the wall” and niceties go out the window fast.
The strict 30-day deadline reeks of petty vindictiveness.
Pure Obama all right.
I understand perfectly why Dem politicians are the way they are...it’s voters who should know better who support such trash and vote against their own best interests who amaze me.
I know some very analytical people-—engineers-—who won’t even consider changing their voting habits.
Maybe that’s part of it-—it’s just habit to them.
Clinton was “pro-life” when he was governor of Arkansas.
That changed to “pro-choice” when he ran for national office.
When a politician makes such a massive change to core-belief, I have to assume that they are either soulless or just plain lying to get into office.
If Christie suddenly becomes a supporter of 2nd Amendment, I won’t be able to trust him. Sorry, I’ve just seen too many convenient changes like that over the years.
Romney is another. Yet he could have redeemed himself, shown great integrity, and made himself a viable candidate if, during the recent debate over nationalizing health care, he had come out and used the example (HIS example) of socialized medicine in MA as a perfect example of why Obama’s socialization of medicine must be defeated. But he did not. Though he had no problem changing some other core issues.
That's an expression referring to the to ball tipped throttle control levers of an aircraft, pushed all the way forward to the full-throttle position. It has nothing to do with testicles.
It's not vulgar.
I gave up on Romney long ago. MassCare finished him as a primary candidate anyway. It is well-known that it served as a pattern for the hated Obamacare.
Christie is another matter. He has actually shown some guts and gotten some things done in a state where no one even thought he could be elected.
I own guns and supporty gun ownership. It is just not at the top of my priority list right now. Fiscal matters are. Spending. Deficits. Debt. Taxes. JOBS!
The candidate who makes a credible case for handling those things will get the GOP nomination.
Pro-life, pro-gun, anti-homo marriage-—I agree with all of that and more. But a lot of good it will do us in a “Weimar” America, which is the direction Hussein has us headed in. Basically, I’m taking up the tea party banner the way the movement was originally conceived.
“The White House gets more like George III every day. Governor Christie never flew to vacations on a taxpayer supported Boeing 747, nor did his wife mooch off the taxpayers to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.”
Actually, neither did George III. His consort was very down to earth and well-loved in the English speaking world. Princess Charlotte is quite well known, and the Duke of Edinburgh only passed her last year for the longest serving consort of any King or Queen. Just over 57 years, almost the entire length of George III’s reign.
I’m going to start a political war against Christie if he doesn’t pardon Brian Aitken ASAP. This is ridiculous. Not a single Republican should support Christie if he allows a lawful gun owner to rot in prison because of corrupt prosecutors and judge.
Am betting he could find a greater appreciation for Palin, as well.
Good point made but would feel less threatened, if it were 'George III' that Obama was modeling instead of what appears more a Chavez/Hitleresque approach coupled with Ayatollah themes.
