When I was in the Washington DC area and was going to business school, the husband of one of my friends and fellow students was a hunter and she brought in venison for me to have.

I was nervous about it at first because of the aforementioned wuss thing... I was eating BAMBI!!!!...but then, I realized I really enjoyed it. And why should I have a problem with that when I don’t stop and fret and think about where hamburgers come from or pork roast? It seems like a silly mental quirk of mine I guess.

I haven’t had it since because I haven’t had the opportunity but I loved it and would totally eat it again.

I never thought hunters like seeing anything suffer...only that it’s a necessary part of getting the meat that sadly does not grow in a garden. :)

I had deer chops for Thanksgiving. I seasoned them with Montreal Steak seasoning and soy sauce and fried them in the pan to medium well. They were tender and tasty! I hope you will have another opportunity to have venison.
