This is a serious charge. It should lead to the University of Iowa shutting down their entire sports program permanently.
wasting taxpayer dollars for this.....are you kidding me?
I attended a sporting event where they did a “very low” flyover, and it was awesome! I remember it clearly because I looked at my brother who was with me right after the flyby and stated with shock how low they were. This was in St. Louis and Busch Stadium for a Cardinals playoff game years ago. Don`t recall anything being said about it in the media afterwords though.
The FAA's "1,000 foot rule" has killed airshows and flyovers.
I went to an airshow several years ago, with a guy flying a Pitts Special. He knew the FAA was watching, and although this guy was a great pilot, his show was about as exciting as watching grass grow.
But, we have the gubment being our All Oppressive Nanny - All The Time.
Now, we can't do flyovers (where no one was in danger), but the TSA has their hands in our pants.
I was there. That’s the first thing that went across my mind is ‘wow those dudes are LOW’.
If they didn’t hit the scoreboard, move along.
It was more fun in the old days. And I can’t recall any accidents to speak of from flyovers, other than an occasional plane that went down—which is inevitable, if enough flying hours are involved.
Did somebody have an altitude gun or something to check how low they were or was it guess-ti-mation?
IPs flying like hot dogs? I don’t believe it. /s
I didn’t realize that the Air Force still had T-38s in their inventory. I knew NASA still used them as chase planes, but I thought that was it.
Hmmph...back home in Appalachia, I’ve actually stood on mountain tops and looked DOWN into the cockpits of military jets zooming down below me in the valleys, playing hide and seek with each other. The USAF brass has better things to do here...
Well, at least they weren’t strafing or dropping ordinance. :-)
We all know T-38s are really good at nailing Womp Rats on Tatooine...
(seriously, T-38s are a great training and support MRF)
This will be much ado about nothing...
.....way effin' cool!
Four aircraft, 250 feet AGL each. Adds up to a thousand in my book. Someone needs to get a life.
Bunch of wimps.
You want a flyover call the US NAVY!!!

Iowa City is at 668 feet elevation, so they were easily 332 feet above that.
Or did you mean AGL?
