Police forces arrested Saturday two brothers from the Druze village of Isfiya who are suspected of being responsible for the act of negligence which started the massive fire that was still raging in the Carmel in northern Israel.
The two brothers, 16, were taken for investigation by Central Police Unit detectives on Saturday, who believe the brothers lit a fire near their home in the western part of Isfiya which spread and ultimately set the entire Carmel ablaze.
Earlier Saturday, Police Commissioner David Cohen already said that the fire was caused by negligence, and not arson, during a situation assessment at the Israel Police northern headquarters.

Druze village makes them Christian, I think, and the article mentions negligence.
Maronites are Christians, but I don’t think Druzes are.
Druze are an offshoot religion from Islam. Their faith also requires them to be loyal to the government in which they live. Plenty of Druze IDF, serving with distinction, getting offed by Palis, too. Linguistically, they’re Arabs, but culturally and religiously, very different.
Thanks, I knew they are “different.” (No offense intended).
Oh brother, now the frickin pals will adopt it as a new tactic.
It’s not something new. They’ve been doing it for a while now.
There is no doubt this incident will also be instructive to the wrong people.
The Druze and the Maronite Christians are ancestral enemies, but the Druze have an especially hatred for mainstream Muslims because the Muslims waged jihad against them whenever it was not politically expedient to attack French-sponsored Christians.
We’re having a drought right now. One good, torrential rainfall and some cold weather to keep the water on the ground, and this whole danger is over.
Apparently, the two have now been released without charges. A lot of stories circulate about the origins of the fire - some say it was burning off of rubbish, others say it was an outdoor meal with a grill.
