The battle continues over private-sector job creation and government expansion. Taxation and unemployment are directly related, and if every American doesn't understand this, then Americans will continue to lose jobs.
The Democratic left has placed a gun to congressional Republicans' heads by threatening to allow taxes to increase on all Americans on January 1. Democrats intend to continue government expansion by again extending the policy of paying people not to work, while Republicans are threatening to block all leftist lame-duck initiatives barring tax breaks for every American, including "the rich."
The historical facts are quite clear on the subject: lowering tax rates always results in economic growth by leaving more investment resources in the private sector, where real jobs must be created. Lower tax rates have always resulted in increased tax revenue streams by way of economic expansion. So why are Democrats so committed to raising taxes?
The Democratic left is not really focused on economic expansion; they are focused on government expansion -- i.e., taking earned resources out of the private sector and placing them in the public sector, where they can dictate "social justice" from on high.
As the Bush tax cuts are due to expire on December 31, 2010, Obama threatens to raise taxes on all Americans in his pursuit of shifting more private wealth to the public sector. To justify the federal assault on America's employers, Democrats claim that "the rich" do not pay their "fair share" in America. This concept is sold to American workers as "social justice."
In short, if Republicans won't allow the Democratic left to further assault investors and employers on January 1,Democrats are prepared to penalize ALL Americans by increasing taxes on everyone at a time when unemployment is already at an all-time high and home mortgages are in deep trouble.

I can’t wait to see America kick Obama and these bums out on their ears.
I REALLY wish these pundits and legislators would talk about regulations and laws as well as taxes when it comes to job creation.
Focusing solely on taxes is a) narrow minded and b) simply does not address the entire issue of job creation and makes conservatives look single minded. The dems use that against us and it works for "takers" in class warfare.
If he’s re-elected, the country is over. The GOP better wake up NOW! This is an emergency!!!
Ain't it the truth. There is so much involved that people who have never run a lemonade stand just don't get. New food safety certifications, certification of painters, MSDS stuff, mortgage and financial duplicate and triplicate regulatory agencies, gasoline tax, cell phone proposals, etc. The current administration truly believes owning a business is NOT an honorable profession.
When will the current Congress expire? It can’t be too long.
Dec. 31
the RATS aren't smart enough to understand the business model of a lemonade stand...
I absolutely agree!!! If the tax cuts are allowed to expire, there will be a huge negative affect on the economy. The stock market will recede, companies will let more folks go and will hold back on capital improvements. Additionally we will even see more bankruptcies. It may take a while but everyone will realize that the expiration of the tax cuts has created another down-cycle in the economy. Not only will the GOP have its hand strngthened in negotiating an extension to the tax cuts at some point next year, but it will enhance their election hopes in 2012.
I am hearing that the Democrats will have a hard time getting 51 Senators to vote for extending only some of the tax cuts because they know that if they have to face the voters in 2012 with another down-cycle to the economy then it will be a bloodbath and I don't think they want that.
In summary, the GOP needs to dig in its heels on this issue...if they do the President and the Senate Democrats will come around. Another thing teh GOP needs to do is start the calls for more drilling in the Gulf, offshore and wherever Oil and Natural Gas can be found in this country. Oil prices are going up and they will be a huge issue in the 2012 elections. The sooner the GOP gets out in front of that issue the better it will be for the economy and for them.

That only works with a fair media.

Okay, here is my solution. End the unemployment as scheduled and use the money they were going to pay "benefits" with to give every employer $10,00.00 for every new hired employee. They would have to be employed for at least one year and all of the other loophole closing angles.
This is like unemployment in reverse. Instead of paying people not to work we use that money to pay employers to employ them. We gradually phase it out as the economy begins to recover.
