A federal judge has ordered what is believed to be the first-ever destruction of a genetically modified crop in the United States, saying that the altered sugar beets were planted illegally.

US District Judge Jeffrey White in California granted a preliminary injunction Tuesday sought by the Center for Food Safety and other groups, which contended that the Monsanto-produced sugar beet crops were planted without proper environmental review.

Goodness. Monsanto takes a bullet? Isn’t that kind of a first? They must not have paid Obama enough to cover for them.

“They must not have paid Obama enough to cover for them.”

I think that that’s at the heart of everything Obama does, from bailouts to healthcare waivers to environmmental exemptions.

At issue is the planting of so-called Roundup Ready beets that allow the agribusiness giant Monsanto's Roundup herbicide to be used without harming the crops themselves..

Roundup itself is a nightmare. If you use it make SURE to wash your hands thoroughly, and keep far away from your children, and most especially pregnant women. the main ingredient has been shown to cause genital abnormalities in lab rats (mis-shapen, missing, both organs, double penises, yuck, etc.)

I'd like to know one basic fact about this story...how much beets are at stake? Tons? Hundreds of pounds? How much, you incompetent agenda-driven reporter.

The article's main thrust is not about reporting facts but making the point abundantly clear that we must submit to the government.

IMO, the stench from a beet plant is as bad as a paper-pulp plant.

Are you the one who started the Alar scare and ended the use of DDT? I would be baned for stating what you can do.

You ever smell rotted potatoes? Rotted cabbage? Rotted squash or pumpkins? WOW! A smell that you’ll never forget - unless you’re hungry. HA!

Now Monsanto needs to pay damages caused by their modified wheat genes that they allowed to infect others fields.

“You ever smell rotted potatoes? Rotted cabbage? Rotted squash or pumpkins?”

Yes to all...pretty nasty. Like processing plants (meat, beets, paper) it can stay in your nose for days and, unfortunately, be recalled decades later. Couldn’t live without potatoes, though... :b

Ya know, they’ve GMO’ed corn genes with human genes to the point that your corn flakes are being used by intelligence agencies to relay your critical conversations right from the breakfast table. (you know, “ears” of corn, right?)

Yeah... In the old days we used to plant them beet plants in alternate rows with paper-pulp plants so that they could cross-pollenate, ya know... I’ve since learned that we were way, way ahead of our time on this!!!
