Military Chiefs Cast Doubt on Repealing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

The chiefs of the Army, Marines and Air Force warned Friday that implementing a repeal of the policy banning gays from serving openly in the military would be more difficult than a Pentagon study has suggested, challenging the assessments of other top military officials in the administration.

Gen. James Amos, the Marine commandant, offered the most critical comments in a hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee and recommended against a repeal at this time. He said the Marines would carry out a change in policy if Congress votes for it but said the shift has a "strong potential for disruption at the small-unit level."

JCS chairman Admiral Mullens must be ready to tell them all to find different work

Hmm, does this sound a little bit like...mutiny

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead, by contrast, recommended repeal, citing statistics showing most sailors are not concerned about the potential change. As for those worried about a repeal, he said, "I believe these concerns can be effectively mitigated through engaged leadership."

I am embarrassed for my Navy.

First would come the sensitivity training..then the preferential treatment of gays..then the domination of certain non-combat jobs by gays. Next issues of what to do with by-sexual and trans-sexual members. Then cross dressing..all of which would take time, energy, and money away from doing their jobs.

Apparently Adm. Roughead hasn't had to hot-bunk a berth space on a sub lately.

"Engaged leadership"... yeah.. right!

My dream scenario would be for Gen. Amos to announce that open homosexuality will NOT be allowed or tolerated in the Marine Corps.

Is it just me or does the picture of Admiral Mullins standing on the steps of the Capitol holding a cup of some Starbucks fru-fru brew just shout, “I’m Gay!”

All the while our government tells us that it’s no big deal. The lies keep coming don’t they? It amazes me that they are willing to destroy themselves over petty BS.

I have read articles about the Navy lowering their standards to get more affirmitive action candidates into the Naval Academy. There was an affirmative action midshipmen who was arrested for smuggling dope from Tijuana to San Diego while he was on summer training. Where is all of this leading to?

He is not but the thing that Admiral Mullens and Roughhead don’t have to do is deal with this. They are both 4 star admirals and will retire after this post so they pass this and then retire leaving others to clean up the mess. I am not sure how much of a mess it will be in reality but there will be some problems that will have to be dealt with.

and of course the mandatory “sensitivity training” required of anyone who rejects a homosexual advance or recoils from homo humor, and is branded “homophobic”

>>strong potential for disruption at the small-unit level

What an understatement.

Sometimes I wish they would drop the polite talk and lay it out, “WHAT ARE ALL OF YOU NUTS???!! DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THE MASSIVE DISRUPTION YOU WILL CREATE??!!”

Small Unit disruption AKA Combat Troops AKA, despite the blitherimg idiots POV, the main purpose of having armed forces, the fighters.

The Service Chiefs are going to have to Stand UP Taller otherwise this thing is a done deal.

look, I’m no woman hater. (ask my wife) /drumroll

but I’ve served in 2 branches of service on 3 continents and when women came in, and even today, it was a big change. lots of MIL women are awesome, but there is still lots of effort to look around before you can tell a joke and if one doesn’t want to do a job they’re given, it’s a nightmare. I’ve seen tons of stupid issues turn into EEO complaints and cost soldiers lots of grief where the only issue was some female who didn’t pull her weight. I am NOT saying women don’t pull their weight, but the system is so rigged in their favor that it’s tough sometimes. now the gay situation i think will be 100x worse, especially if they don’t split billeting and showers. winks and nudges and teasing and tormenting and slacking off and malingering and there won’t be any recourse for “straight” soldiers, especially after their first counseling on the matter. i see this being an absolute train wreck.

I cannot comprehend the thinking of Sec. Gates and Adm. Mullen other than them being totally political animals. What have they to gain by the repeal of DADT? Social engineering in the military has ALWAYS been a detriment to military capability. Does anyone other than me remember “McNamara’s Project 100,000”? He forced the Army to take in 100,000 idiots we did not want, bringing along with their drug problems, history of crime, inability to read and write, and a lot of other baggage, so the Army could make “productive citizens” out of them. I commanded a company in Vietnam and although I may be exaggerating slightly, I felt like I had all 100,000 assigned to my company at one time or another. So the “real soldiers” had to do double duty for each of these *#@%heads who could not or would not contribute, while I spent much more time doing Article 15s and courts-martial than would have been otherwise required, and time that could have been mission oriented. Why screw with a pretty damn good military by forcing the services to accommodate behavioral deviants? What possible benefit can it generate compared to the cost in readiness and dollars? Why did the “survey” not ask the direct question “Do you want to serve with gays?” It is time for the senior military leadership to take a stand, put their stars on the line and tell the truth. Once it is repealed, if ever, then they will have no choice but to salute and carry on to implement the new policy, no matter the detriment. (Notice, I did not say anything even in jest about the senior Navy leadership being the primary ones in uniform who support the repeal…. I could have, but I chose not to. (Hell, my sister married a Squid and I still speak to her!)

Just another article about the fools and idiots and leftist garbage trying to destroy the military and push perversion. Fortunately the chiefs of the Army, Marines and Air Force aren't shutting up. And neither should anyone else. Once the R's are in the majority in January the repeal will not pass. (Although it should be repealed and back to the "no homosexuals at all"!)

Similar article, has lots of links to simple evidence of why homosexuals do NOT belong in the military, in case anyone wants ammunition to argue with people. Or write letters to the editor, email to people, whatever.
