WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have convened a Hanukkah celebration at the White House on the second night of the Jewish festival of lights.
The celebration occurred in the East Room Thursday, where guests recited traditional prayers while lighting candles in a menorah lent by a congregation in New Orleans that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Exactly...its so funny that at my daughter’s 5th grade “Holiday Season” chorus event they will sing a “traditional Hannukah song”...but no “traditional Christian Christmas” songs.....the ADL spreads its influence nationwide...
But they won’t celebrate Christmas.
This is sure to piss off the ramadan crowd.
I’m sure the Obama’s will ardently celebrate Kwanzaa.
With nearly all of Obama’s inner circule being Jews, it makes sense.
Our Governor Rendell allows the Minor ah to be displayed in the Capitol Building — however, absolutely NO Nativity Scene is allowed!!
I dare him to celebrate Festivus.
Always arrogant. Dayum. He puts Mussolini to shame.
Ah. I hadn't thought of that, but I sure agree with you.
Like Wild Irish Rogue said, he's not looking at it either.
It *is* detestable. This is a photo op and not a very good one.
In the larger photo you posted, he actually looks distainful or is it hateful?
I bought a couple of boxes of gold chocolate Hanukkah coins at a salvage place last week. They taste just like Chocolate Easter Bunnies.
It’s just disgusting that we have those two pigs living in the White House. You can just tell, they’re just anti-semitic. They have no joy in their faces as the Menorah candles are being lit. I’m sure they’re remembering Rev Wright’s filthy sermons.
Oh my.
How special.
Zed's PR team found a way to work a “Blame Bush for Katrina” meme into a Jewish holiday.
You saw that little “dig” in there too, eh? So subtle. /sarchasm - The gaping whole between a liberal and the truth.
Except for Christian holidays, of course.
Barry doea not celebrate every religion’s holidays. He usually skips out ot town on Christmas!
“I wonder if this Jewish congregation is one of those secular ones that dont believe in a higher power but place more importance in humanism.”
I believe Beth Israel it is the oldest Orthodox congregation in New Orleans. They were devastated by Katrina and are in the process of rebuilding at a new location in the city.
