I worked at Vandenberg for seven years in he late 70s to 80s and routinely watched similar launches by Minutemen and special missiles. No plane can fly at such a steep angle for so long. When they closed Adak, that enable subs to travel down our coast without being detected. That is the benefit Democratic presidents give us.
Wow, that is new to me. And BTW, What's Adak?
They closed Adak?! Jeez I didn’t know that! Wow.
Don’t know if you caught my post earlier, but the Chicoms now have very quiet subs with props that don’t cavitate much courtesy of American technology.
An American aerospace company SOLD the special milling machine to the Chicoms in the early 1990s. With that machine, the Chicoms can machine out props with precise curves and very smooth surfaces. The US Navy raised hell and said no way. GHW Bush’s State Dept. said, “The Chicoms are our friends, now.” and let the sale go through.
A plane can be flying totally level and appear from a distance to be flying at a very steep angle. This is due to a combination of the curvature of the Earth and the fact that it is very hard to judge the relative distance of the various parts of a contrail.
