Editor's Notes: Exposed by WikiLeaks By DAVID HOROVITZ
12/01/2010 06:34
After the first meeting between newish President Barack Obama and new Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in May of 2009, I wrote in these pages about the acutely uncomfortable clash of divergent outlooks so readily evident at their media conference.
I noted that while the Netanyahu camp had rushed to talk up a purported meeting of minds over Iran, it was plain that there was a gulf between the two men on the issue. Specially, I wrote, it had been Netanyahus hope that he would persuade Obama of the imperative to halt the Iranian nuclear drive as a precondition for encouraging Arab moderation and thus enabling progress with the Palestinians, and on this he failed.
Instead, I pointed out, Obama insistently placed tackling the Palestinian issue which has defeated even the most generous and flexible Israeli governments on the road to fixing Iran.
While Israel had argued internationally that stopping Iran would enable headway with the Palestinians, and other foreign heads of state, senior ministers and diplomats had politely suggested it was best to try to chivvy both processes along simultaneously, Obama, I observed, has gone all the way over to the other side, and done so in public.
I was referring to the presidents assertion, publicly contradicting Netanyahu, that, If there is a linkage between Iran and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, I personally believe it actually runs the other way. To the extent that we can make peace with the Palestinians between the Palestinians and the Israelis then I actually think it strengthens our hand in the international community in dealing with a potential Iranian threat.

So now we know he was scapegoating the jews on the Iran issue when the opposite was true.
Nice.
The list, ping

No hope that the Bamster will change.
This is a great piece.
I kind of think that if Wikileaks was going to expose anything that would be harmful to Israel, Julian Assage would be dead already. Exploding motorbike parked next to his Saab or something like that.
These leaks make Israel look good.
I dunno. These leaks so far have been one big ‘duh’.
I’ve been reading the Israel documents yesterday and today. Horovitz is dead on accurate. The US in those cables was being urged to deal with Iranian nukes and Palestine was a thorn, but not an injury to the Arab states. Egypt, for example, wanted an easier way to get charitable shipments to the Palestinians.
And hold the presses, the US was warned AGAINST supporting elections for the Palestinians because (either Russia or Egypt, don’t recall which) knew that only a pro-Iran result would transpire. Amazing.
So, Obama is STALLING progress on Iranian nukes on purpose. That is the only conclusion we can reach.
In the meantime, Israel is secretly reassuring everyone that they will not attack Iran. The analysis says they fear the 15000 rockets aimed at them by Syria.
Shorter version: Obama lied and continues to lie. His goal is to destroy Israel and run cover for Iran until they have the bomb to further weaken the US.

The Times revealed that the NAMES, VILLAGES, RELATIVES NAMES AND EVEN GPS LOCATIONS of Afghans co-operating with Nato forces could be accessed easily from files released by WikiLeaks.
The arrogant and incompetent one strikes again.
bump.
This article confirms everything we always thought about Obama - he lies, distorts, and pushes his own agenda - regardless of the facts on the ground.
“This is a great piece.”
Wait a second. Where’s all the hatred and contempt for the news media for publishing these cables that we saw yesterday?
You mean letting the public know what’s going on might actually be a proper role of the free press?
I am not against these leaks.

What I like is that the wiki leaks are saying all the things that we here on this site were suspecting were being said between countries.
