DETROIT (WJBK) - The son of Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., says items were stolen out of the government vehicle he was driving last Wednesday in downtown Detroit, FOX 2's Simon Shaykhet reports.

John Conyers III, 20, told police two Apple MacBooks, valued at $1,100 apiece, and more than $27,000 worth of concert tickets to the Fillmore were stolen out of a burgundy 2010 Cadillac Escalade registered to the 14th Congressional District.

According to the U.S. General Services Administration Web site , if an employee allows an unauthorized person to use a government vehicle, that employee could be suspended or fired.

Any Tea Party Republican that takes a government-paid car is a fraud.

Abusing the taxpayers is a bipartisan affliction in Washington!

Unfortunately that just applies to Executive Branch worker scums, not rulers like Conyers, once considered the dumbest representative in the House which title he has since been eclipsed by a few others in his caucus.

What was Conyers doing with $27,000 worth of concert tickets to the Fillmore?

My question would be, Why does the government have 2010 Cadillac Escalades for congressmen to use? Chevys not good enough?

Key words: "could be."

Hint, we are talking Detroit.

We’re talking about the country.

Our congresscritters get free cars, free franking privilege and free health care.

Not really. Guess who pays for it?

And the GOP feeds at the same trough the Democrats do. They both rape the taxpayers. That’s why Washington has a singular Criminal Class. Contempt for hard-working Americans respect neither ideology nor party affiliation.

Insurance scam, I hope the insurance company makes sure he A)Paid full price for the tickets and B)they are worthless to whoever has them.

I can see someone breaking into a car in Detroit, but this just smells to me. $27k is not much less than his mommy went to jail for, when it comes to larceny the Conyers seem to be kind of low rent.

The thief did the public a service by exposing this corruption. I hope all the criminals in this story serve time and the public (the real victims here) are compensated for the theft of their tax dollars.

What thief? As in, “There is no honor among...?” Or, the US Senate, a “den of ....”

$27,000 worth of concert tickets belonging to a 20-year-old? Yeah. A US government-issued, taxpayer financed Cadillac driven by the son of a US senator and a convicted criminal. Charming.
