Cantor: Republicans will keep some provisions of healthcare law intact (Here we go!!)
The Hill ^

Posted on 11/30/2010 9:56:46 AM PST by roses of sharon

House Majority Leader-designate Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said Monday that Republicans will not be seeking to completely scrap the healthcare reform law.

Cantor said there are certain elements of current law that will be included in the GOP plan, which he said will move simultaneously with a repeal measure through the House.

Provisions that Republicans will seek to retain include the barring of insurance companies from refusing coverage to patients with a pre-existing condition and allowing young people to stay on their parents' insurance plans until age 26.

Speaking to more than 100 students at a town hall event at American University in Washington. D.C., Cantor responded to a question from a young woman who suffered from a chronic health condition by telling her, "We want to keep the pre-existing condition clause."

Cantor also told the woman that under the GOP plan, she should be able stay either "on a parent's health insurance" or be offered "another, equally affordable solution.

We need to let those CORRUPT BASTARDS in the media go out on the bread and soup lines too

Even their headlines on websites are designed to distort or confuse what news may be happening

I just got interrupted on the phone and had to hang up on somebody

Good ideas but how do we do it? That's our problem, we win an election - supposedly - and then those in office fall right back into their old routine.

Hangup on - same person?? Lol, agitation is thy name.

.

We need to give politicians the same heat they got in local Town Hall Meetings - where their arrogance was exposed

By phone, email, FAX, every way possible

.

Same.....

I agree that people have to keep up the heat. One bad thing is that it's hard to have huge Tea Parties in Winter time.

People are getting madder and madder and sooner or later something's going to happen.

The 'same' - oh no! Keep your cool, lol.

do you have any left?

The Hill had to amend the article after being contacted by Cantor’s office.

Nahh. Cantor was never a tea party person.

Obamacare needs to be rejected in toto and a new plan crafted to address REAL problems like the pre-existing conditions and tort reform and the ability to carry insurance from one job to another.

Potlatch...have faith.

We are still in a lame duck congress, with the ‘rats having the majorities in both houses.

I knew that this would be a rough time, so I’ve opted to celebrate Christmas, and forget politics for now.

I watch Christmas movies every night, and will continue to watch movies until the next congress is sworn in. ;o)

Here is the full text of the correction at The Hill:

Editor's note: This article was changed at 1:57 p.m.. The Hill incorrectly reported in the initial version that Cantor wants to keep certain provisions of the healthcare law intact. The article was revised to emphasize that Cantor and House Republicans are pursuing a full repeal of healthcare reform while addressing issues in the law, such as pre-existing conditions and allowing young people to stay on their parents' insurance plan, in their replacement bill. Both provisions are in current law, but Republicans would deal with them differently than Democrats did in the bill that passed earlier this year.

Thanks for the ping, gentlemen;

“...only to see the asshats goto DC and get lured by whatever it is they desire, and allow themselves to be watered down...”

I’m of the reverse Reagan model: “VERIFY, then trust.”

Until they (any politician - R, D or any other) show that they are American FIRST and have the best interest of the country at heart, I do NOT trust them.

I have nothing to prove to them; they have EVERYTHING to prove to me. I want to hear one of them stand up and say “I’m NOT a ‘citizen of the world’ - I’m an AMERICAN citizen, this is MY country, and I will do what it RIGHT and GOOD for MY country first and foremost.” - and then actually DO IT with the full power of their office.

Until then, all this is simply a run-up to 1861 all over again, with a lot more nastiness, and a lot less chivalry.

Far too many of them are socialist one-worlders, be they liberal or RINO a**holes, and have been suckered by that idiotic ideology. They’re right out in the open now, because somewhere between NOW and 1950-something, communism/socialism became “cool” - and our forebears and ourselves let it happen. So now we’re faced with half the country clamoring for the fruits of the labor of the othe rhalf, and elected self-serving piles of dogsh*t who are more than happy to use the coercive power of “der staat” to give it to them to keep themselves in office.

Sorry for the bleak outlook, but I don’t see any other option if things don’t drastically change. The other side has shown NO common, decent understanding of the concept of “live and let live” and has proven by its actions that our differing viewpoints cannot continue to peacefully co-exist.

It’s a potential reality that we all need to face ultimately.

Just my 14 cents (adjusted for inflation)...

That’s good advice, I should take it, lol. I’ve got out of the practice of watching anything but Fox News!! Don’t even know who people are on TV anymore, lol.
