House Majority Leader-designate Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said Monday that Republicans will not be seeking to completely scrap the healthcare reform law.
Cantor said there are certain elements of current law that will be included in the GOP plan, which he said will move simultaneously with a repeal measure through the House.
Provisions that Republicans will seek to retain include the barring of insurance companies from refusing coverage to patients with a pre-existing condition and allowing young people to stay on their parents' insurance plans until age 26.
Speaking to more than 100 students at a town hall event at American University in Washington. D.C., Cantor responded to a question from a young woman who suffered from a chronic health condition by telling her, "We want to keep the pre-existing condition clause."
Cantor also told the woman that under the GOP plan, she should be able stay either "on a parent's health insurance" or be offered "another, equally affordable solution.

All Cantor will succeed in doing is ensuring that Obamacare becomes a bipartisan debacle, rather than just a Democrat debacle. Obama must have gotten to him.
I have not liked Cantor since the infamous Ingraham interview on BOR. Boehner is the only one at the WH today that I kind of trust.
Republicans now believe 26 years olds are children. We’re the change you’ve been waiting for!
This IS conservatism? Yeah sure.
What happened to the GOP being on probation? Tea Partiers better start contacting these established GOP leaders in the House to remind them that we are watching, and gladly will have able REAL conservative candidates ready for the GOP primaries in 2012.
cantor has always been a rino, now he’s the head rino
Time to SLAM his office with angry phone calls. Don’t give up now.
I wish I was 18 again. I had to get my own health insurance after that. Why don’t they extend it to 50?
I just called Cantor’s office in VA. She “doesn’t know”. I wonder what Laura has to say about this.
It’s over. We’ve been had.
Agreed, to the Nth power. Cantor is demonstrating that the non-Tea Party GOP is only slightly more trustworthy than the Democrats. Hold Cantor's feet to the fire & do not EVER let go for the next two years.
Attention all Republican Candidates:
I will vote against you if you allow ANY part of Obamacare to remail, no matter how small.
Zero Compromise or don’t expected to be re-elected.
I used to really like Cantor but now that he will actually be in a position to govern, he is turning into a big dissapointment.
I wish I could say this is a surprise — but it is not.
No, you might have though the election was your ticket to go back to sleep.
Sorry, the tea party does not stop.
I have been pumping the fact that Cantor/Boener need to be replaced by comservatives. I suffered an avalanche of freeper criticism.
Now y’all see what I mean?
This battle is barely beginning, and that is why we need Jim DeMint, Sarah Palin, Matha Shepherd, Lt. Col Allen West and many others to take the RINO leadership of the GOP on.
Cantor’s DC office “I can’t speak to his views, I can take a message”. Makes me puke!!!
F that... Its not over until every very last one of us (or them) are buried.
As someone who has been in the health insurance business for 30+ years the pre-ex clause and allowing kids to stay on their parents plan are good measures. The rest of the plan sucks.
So many things can be done to lower health insurance premiums without gov’t interference.
For instance: One is to to have carriers go back to non profit status. Most carriers were this way for a 100 years but with the huge stock market run up back in the mid to late 90’s most carriers went to from non-profit status to for - profit status to ride the stock market wave. It backfired though. The premium rates literally shot up right thereafter and never stopped. Money that should have gone to patient care or keep premiums lower went to pay dividends instead.
Many carriers want to go back to non profit status but raising capital and moving back is difficult.
Wrong answer, you jackwagon!
