Wonder how the storm will affect us?I don't know if you've noticed, but most people on this planet seem to be going absolutely insane.
Just look at the headlines this week.
Gamma Rays?

That’s an awfully big effect for a “planet” which is supposed to be 4 billion years old and presumably in stable equilibrium...

I shot this image of Jupiter last year.
I'm set up for deep space imaging, not planetary imaging. This out of focus, with poor resolution image, was the best effort the optical train and camera could produce. I will eventually get a camera designed for capturing planetary images, using video. I will take the video and use software that will capture and process only the best video frames, and combine or stack them together for planetary imaging. The planetary images produced by video method, will be 100 times better resolution...Most serious planetary amateur astronomers are using simple modified web-cams which produce way better images than what is seen here. This image was just a single frame shot with a Canon DSLR.
It should be noted, when viewed directly through the telescope eyepiece, the surface or atmospheric cloud detail of Jupiter is extremely sharp. So sharp, when Jupiter's moons pass in front of the planet, their circular shadows can be easily seen and tracked across the face of Jupiter. Seeing this occur, basically in real time, is quite spectacular.
