A Fairfax woman has been arrested and charged with throwing a toddler over the railing of a fourth-floor outdoor walkway at Tysons Corner Center Monday night, police said.

Judging from the comments at the site the story was updated at some point to indicate that the girl had been thrown off the walkway, I guess it wasn’t clear at first.

Maybe they had a report from someone who just saw the poor child land, and got the details from the cops later.

What a sick woman. I’ve been in the mall many times. Creepy.

The child’s grandmother threw a 2 year old from a 3rd story walkway into incoming traffic (it’s a walkway over a street linking the mall with the parking garage). The walkway has a railing which is at least 4 feet high. The murderer is a Hispanic woman in her 50s (i.e. most likely pretty short without a lot of upper body strength) - she definitely made a specific, strenuous physical effort to murder this child.

Prayers for this little angel. What she must have endured in her two years of a short life can only be torture. May she rest with God. I just can’ get out of my mind that she must have seen the decorations in the mall and must have been happy and excited before being brutally murdered. I adored that age and that is what is stuck in my mind and making me sick.

How sad. Thousands upon thousands of people would have loved to have adopted that child, and this monster throws her to her death.
