Congressional recount to be certified Thursday (Farenthold TX-27)

CORPUS CHRISTI — Gov. Rick Perry will certify results Thursday of the 27th Congressional District election recount.

The complete results, released Monday by the Secretary of State’s office, showed U.S. Rep.-elect Blake Farenthold receiving 51,001 votes, 775 more votes than incumbent U.S. Rep. Solomon P. Ortiz.

Election returns showed Farenthold beating Ortiz by 792 votes.

Libertarian candidate Ed Mishou received 5,372 votes, according to the Secretary of State.

The governor will certify, or canvass, the results at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in Austin, Secretary of State spokeswoman Jordy Keith said.

Because the recount did not change the outcome of the race, a certificate of election showing Farenthold as the winner was sent Monday to the clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives, she said.

Thursday’s canvass will simply confirm the new totals, she said.

Now can Farenthold get his teeth fixed? And maybe lose that Boss Hogg grin?

I don't think he cares. Money isn't an issue, he comes from a wealthy family.

I was pleasantly surprised last week at Ortiz’s gracious comment as he conceded.

I don't know much about his politics, but he's got liberal bloodlines...”Sissy” Farenthold is his grandfather.

Dude, you gotta watch “Animal House.” Blake Farenthold resembles the loveable and mischievous goofball Kent “Flounder” Dorfman played by Stephen Furst. Of course, we know Bluto was going to end up in the Senate, but who knew Flounder would land in the House ? ;-D

(Just as an aside, I’m not demeaning Farenthold, I’m glad he won. He should own his “Flounder”’ness in taking down a South Texas patron in Ortiz, Sr. ;-D)

Ah yes. I knew it had to be a classic film that I hadn’t seen or didn’t remember if I had.

According to some short film called “Where Are They Now?: A Delta Alumni Update” Bluto was President as of 2003. ;d Of course the character isn’t listed in the cast since JB is dead.

Karen Allen was looking DAMN fine in Animal House...she still looks great today @ ~60 y/o. She lives in MA and has a yarn store as well - out in the Bershires. Too bad she wasn't closer, I'd go in and drop my Andrew Dice Clay act on her: "Why won't you talk to meeeeeeee?..........Cause I'm finished!!! I talked to you BEFORE I b*ng*d you, did you forget already you f*ck*n' dummy?!!"
