while I probably agree that military spending and benefits are way out of hand, isnt’ it odd or telling that Hoyer would wait til after the election to bring this up....
What “military benefits” don’t you agree with?
Name’um please in order of your priority.
So far, I've been in the military for 14 years. I have yet to see benefits which are out of hand.

Why do you agree with this? A combat soldier starts out at 22K. Another squeak from an ungrateful nation. Right now, the military is the ONLY thing that is keeping you out of a Burqua. Shame on you.
Civilians having never served don’t fully understand what our Military gives up or how UNDER paid they are for the job they are asked to do. Our police and fire rookies make many times more than our Military does. Under some presidents they saw very little pay raise or benefits. Many lower rank families had to go on food stamps and live in bad sections of towns you wouldn’t dream of living in.
Of all government employees the MILITARY is paid the LEAST! Even a lowly pencil pusher at some congress critters office makes more money and benefits than does the Military E-1-9. They also pay income taxes out of this pittance of a paycheck.
And they aren’t laying their lives on the line at a moments notice. Nor freezing their butts off on some Carrier, or when standing post on the DMZ, or roasted by heat and being bit by nasty disease carrying bug, or shot at or blown up in those two hell holes they are now serving in for the 3rd or 5th deployment in the ME.
Need to read some of the comments from the Hill article. Like this one.

When my son in the Marines is making $1,800 a month and will likely be deployed in Afghanistan, this piece of crap Hoyer has the nerve to use the phrase, “fairness.”
How about paying Government employees the same rate as the military! Wouldn’t That be “FAIR”.

Yes there are places in the Military to cut like not remodeling Commissaries that don’t need it, or repaving their parking lots that don’t need it either.
But NOT pay and benefits, those they earned though blood, sweat and tears and their lives. Freedom isn’t free. Our Military are the last line of defense between us and tyranny.
Please be precise about military benefits. Exactly what benefits are “out of hand”?
