Whistle-blowing website Wikileaks begun releasing extracts from secret messages sent by US embassies which give an insight into current global concerns.
They include reports of some Arab leaders - including Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah - urging the US to attack Iran and end its nuclear weapons programme.
Other concerns include the security of Pakistani nuclear material that could be used to make an atomic weapon.
The widespread use of computer hacking by China's government is also reported.
The US government condemned the release of the documents, which number in the hundreds of thousands, saying they put the lives of diplomats and others at risk.
The founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, countered by saying the US authorities were afraid of being held to account.
The leaked US embassy cables, published on the Wikileaks site and at length in newspapers including the New York Times and the UK's Guardian, also reportedly include accounts of:

Why is this guy still alive?
"We are currently under a mass distributed denial of service attack," it reported on its Twitter feed.
Good.
Tried to reach their website a few hours ago. Browser times out. Hope the attacker keeps it up . . . and does the same to whichever site these guys move their stolen goods to.
I don’t know. If we still had men in Washington, he would suddenly contract a mysterious disease and die unexpectedly.
The left is disappointed that these leaks didn’t occur during Bush’s terms in office.
He better be charged with treason.
That said, the world now gets to see that it’s not always, only America that thinks a good military whupping by the U.S. of A. is what is required in certain circumstances (such as Iran).
Iran is gonna’ be p.o.’d at Saudi Arabia. Of course there was no love lost anyway.
What I don’t understand is why islamabama didn’t attack Iran like Saudi Arabia asked him to do. He DID bow down to the king.
The previous batches did, but the MSM couldn't find anything of interest, other than further proof of Iraq WMD's... which of course they didn't want to talk about.
The funny thing so far is that none of the revelations haven't already been in the news or speculated upon.
At the rate this POS is going it is not just the U.S. that is being harmed / offended /
Somebody, some nation is going to off this smarmy little POS. I wouldn’t give you a plug nickel for his life today.
PTL - if I had the knowledge I’d do it myself.
Why is this guy still alive?
Methinks Assange is still alive for the same reasons why no one has offed George Soros. Would not surprise me if Assange has both left and right (Democrat and GOP) supporting and financing him....much like Soros.
I know for a fact Soros is supported by both DNC and GOP types (Soros is a Free Trader Globalist with dealings with many GOP). Something tells me that Assange has similar backing like Soros
that much information can only come from one source
the administration and the american progressive left are doing everything they can to destroy / discredit the US.
anyone associating with the left should be shamed / shunned / ridiculed... as this kind of behavior will get Americans killed
oh, and they should push to get the front man pulled back into the US to face charges. they’d go to the ends of the earth to hunt down and punish a handful of ppl with swiss bank accounts, lets see what they’ll do about this (nothing, i know...)
If the Saudi’s don’t like it, let them bomb Iran, why should we get into their problems....their country is closer to Iran than us....let their soldiers die not ours..
Are you saying that Hillary Clinton is feeding him this stuff?
So am I...
It would be a good opportunity here for the US to plant misinformation under the cover of “leaked” material. Maybe they already are, and that’s how the site is still operational.
UK Guardian article says, “The US embassy cables are marked “Sipdis” secret internet protocol distribution. They were compiled as part of a programme under which selected dispatches, considered moderately secret but suitable for sharing with other agencies, would be automatically loaded on to secure embassy websites, and linked with the military’s Siprnet internet system.”
This is how the traitor in the U.S. military got the cables, from SIPRNET. They did not leak out of the State Department. You can look at the cables at the wikileaks web page and see that this is the case. There are artifacts on the cables that 100% confirm that they were obtained through SIPDIS archives, which evidently does not include anyting above Secret classification and which are available over SIPRNET.
I tell you, the biggest loser in all of this is SecState Hillary Clinton, which could be just what President Barak Obama wants. SecDef Robert Gates should take the hit for this, but it will be Clinton. Obama will blame her for it and fire her. I’ll be surprised if she is still Secretary of State at the end of this year.
I think this is Obama taking down Hillary.
“Top secret cables revealed that Mrs Clinton, the Secretary of State, even ordered diplomats to obtain DNA data including iris scans and fingerprints - as well as credit card and frequent flier numbers.
All permanent members of the security council including Russia, China, France and the UK were targeted by the secret spying mission, as well as the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon.
Work schedules, email addresses, fax numbers, website identifiers and mobile numbers were also demanded by Washington.
The US also wanted biographic and biometric information on UN Security Council permanent representatives.
The request could break international law and threatens to derail any trust between the US and other powerful nations.
Requests for IT related information such as details of passwords, personal encryption keys and network upgrades - could also raise suspicions that the US was preparing to mount a hacking operation.
It is set to lead to international calls for Mrs Clinton to resign.”
