Seoul, South Korea (CNN) -- Veterans of the South Korean military protested on the streets of the nation's capital Saturday, stating they were angry that their country's government had not done enough to respond to recent shelling by North Korea.
One group of protesters gathered near the defense ministry building Saturday. The crowd clashed with police officers, some charging and kicking officers.
The protests come as tensions between the Koreas are growing. On Tuesday, North Korea shelled South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island, killing four South Koreans -- including two civilians -- and wounding 15 others.
North Korea said the South provoked the attack because shells from a South Korean military drill landed in the North's waters. South Korea was holding its annual Hoguk military drill when the North started its shelling.

One well placed cruise missile can do wonders in eliminating the rogue chia pet.
I would love to see us execute a leadership decapitation strategy on the norks, wipe out their nukes and give the Chinese a gigantic refugee problem.
It appears that NK can act at will with aggressive acts without the slightest fear that SK will respond. Are Lee and Obama brothers???
There was a time and under better leadership, America would have quelled this temper tantrum in short order. Obama plays golf and basketball, he is a kid who is not able to govern...his forte is to organize and use other people’s money....he is a huckster and a fraud. Impeachment.....
Yes but we have obama...

Looks to me like the Kim’s son enjoys pork chops, ice cream, and donuts.
Watching NK try to make a leader out of this overweight baby faced clown; time to get the popcorn out.
How effective was SK return fire anyway. I read that they were criticized for taking 15min to respond but nothing about effectiveness. Anyone?
What do we have a child like leader who plays basketball and likes ice cream and fried chicken only real difference seems at least he gets some exercise.
China wouldn’t get involved in a war. They would spend most of their time killing refugees.
Exactly!
Older South Koreans appreciate what America did for them 60 years ago but the 20 to 55 year old crowd thinks we’re the problem. I’ll never forget reading a National Geographic Magazine on Korea a few years ago and saw a picture of a large window in a South Korean restaruant with a sign that said “Americans not welcome’’. Nice huh?
Yes real nice I recall a poll where the S.Korean youth said they would rather be on the side of the North and I recall reading how badly they talked about our Soldiers just a few short years ago calling them invaders.

South Koreans debate need for U.S. presence
South Koreans opinions about the U.S. troop presence range from gratitude to indifference and, sometimes, resentment over what they see as arrogant behavior.
Although Kim said she rarely sees U.S. soldiers in Seoul, she has a largely negative image of them: impolite, even though theyre visitors in a foreign country and should be on their best behavior.
They act like theyre masters of this nation, she said.

Well you get the picture. The S. Korean’s do have twice the population of the North and a far better economy and unfair trade restrictions on American products so given how we have been treated I would hope they could start at least footing the bill for their own safety. Either that or given how they do business and feel about us learn to defend themselves. Funny how we are supposedly so bad until they need us isn’t it.
Then by all means we should bring them together as soon as possible so that the ungrateful South Koreans can be re-united with their cousins from the North. I’m sure they’ve a lot of catching up to do!
