Homemade macaroni and cheese appears on the holiday tables in many southern homes.
I grew up in Baton Rouge, lived in the South most of my life, and no one I know, NO ONE EVER had macaroni and cheese for Thanksgiving. (Or mashed potatoes, ugh.) We did have rice dressing, though.
Spent my whole life in the South and have never heard of anyone having maccaroni and cheese for a holiday meal. Even the major magazines have not included mac and cheese in menus and I’ve been reading Southern Living for over 30 years.
