N.Korea Continues 'Shameless' Demands

North Korea blithely demanded resumption of lucrative package tours to Mt. Kumgang only a day after shelling Yeonpyeong Island in an attack that killed two marines and two civilians and wounded dozens of others. A Unification Ministry called the demand "shameless."

North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland on its website Uriminzokkiri on Wednesday said, "If the South Korean government is genuinely interested in improving inter-Korean relations, it should come to the table to discuss resumption of tours to Mt. Kumgang. We have opened the door to improve inter-Korean relations and mutual reconciliation, but the South Korean government is disregarding our efforts under various excuses."

North Korea earned some US$500 million of hard cash from tours over the last 10 years.

The North Korean Red Cross in a press release Wednesday blasted South Korea's decision to cancel a Red Cross meeting this Thursday that was to have discussed the tours.

"Lee Myung-bak and his gang's crime against the North that created political tensions that are now reaching a point of war can never be accepted," it said. The North repeatedly insisted that the attack was provoked by the South. "As the prospects of inter-Korean dialogue dimmed, the two Koreas face a stalemate," it added.

That's extortion even above Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton’s level.

From anybody else, this would be a sufficient level of ‘gall’ as to leave one speechless...

From NK, it’s just ‘business as usual’.....

I think you are mistaken-

The Nork’s took a page right out of Rev Al’s playbook-

Remember the incited RIOT and ARSON of an ASIAN store in watts?

this resulted in MURDER... no one in New York seems to mind.

Al and Jesse get away with their racist/murdering crap-
why not the Nort Koreans?— sarc

I guess the question is, does Lee have enough backing left to follow his natural inclination to sweep this incident under the rug??

Tactics of totalitarians...like Ground Zero Mosque developers demanding federal funds.

Defund, denigrate, dismantle (when necessary), destroy (when necessary) anti-truth, anti-freedom collectives.

Life, liberty and the pursuit and destruction of totalitarians.

” I suppose we could just print some. “

IIRC, North Korea is perfectly capable of printing their own US Currency...

Actually this is one of the most ‘SANE’ things happening out of this INSANE situation. If the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results (A.Einstein), then would not ‘a’ definition of sanity be to do the same things and expecting the same results?

North Korea (DPRK) has been “behaving badly” for decades and has ALWAYS ended up being rewarded for it and giving its klepto-oligarchic Kim Family regime a longer lease on life. How can it be any surprise that they expect the magic to continue to work - especially after Obama’s stellar Asian Tour at the beginning of this month?

So pay them already. The ROK has done so before, and it’s much easier to do it again.
