I wonder what the symbols are that the sailors are spelling out.
I think that any response that fails to include the word “grave” is woefully inadequate. For example, before W invaded Iraq, the diplomats stated that he would face “serious consequences” if he did not allow the inspections to resume, and he didn’t and we invaded. I thought at the time that “serious consequences” didn’t cover the consequence of “invasion, conquest, and regime change resulting in the hanging of the head of state.” I thought it really should have said he would face “grave consequences”, and since it didn’t I wonder if he misread the warning.
I am sure it wasn't something as bad as when my Coast Guard brother removed the P,O&T and the G&L from the Patrol Boat Point Glass.
Must say this is Bush-like to send our ships for a joint effort and a show of solidarity with South Korea. Our reaction needed to be harmless on its face but symbolic of our commitments. I think it is perfect. It is hard to do but it is neither too much nor too little. The world needed us to see us stand again, over something. Bowing was not something they appreciated from our ingratiating prez, no matter what he thought.
You remember Navy Log too? That is two of us. Lord have Mercy.
I hope all the pilots aren’t blonde. :-)
BAIT! Don’t take the bait.
I agree. In fact, we owe S. Korea pretty much nothing.
Thank you.
May the Lord protect the 5500 souls of America's finest who sail with the USS George Washington.
And the unseen members of the silent service that will protecting her and her crew.
