China Taps North Korea Resources
ENERGY TECH ^ | May 04, 2007 | Lee Jong-Heon, UPI Correspondent

China invested a total of $14.37 million in North Korea in 2005, up $9 million from 2004 and $1.5 million from 2002. China invested only $160,000 in 1998 and $480,000 in 1994.

It is believed more Chinese capital is flowing to the North because of the opaque nature of both regimes. But it is clear that China's investment has jumped since 2002, when North Korea adopted an economic reform package which eased restrictions on foreign investment.

Why in the world would a friendly trading partner like China, tolerate a rogue nation like north Korea, on its Border? Well it may be somehow connected to the mountainous north's impressive mineral resources or vast energy (coal) reserves, or the available slave labor force to continue raping its own in perpetuity. Naw, not from a friendly trading partner like China….

The Communist Chinese tolerate North Korea because they are both....wait for it.... COMMUNIST. Oh, and also, Communist China cannot handle Kim releasing millions of BestKoreans if the ChiComs do not help

The Liberal Free Trade Globalists should be proud of themselves....their support of Free Trade with Communist China helps up Kim Jong-Il. Really Brillant. Free Traders....

‘China invested a total of $14.37 million in North Korea in 2005....’

Gee, for another one or two hundred k, they could have bought the place lock, stock, and barrel - with the exception of Kim’s wine cellar.

The investment numbers mentioned in this article are so small they mean nothing as far as China is concerned.
