Noteworthy in this short FNN Network News (Japanese) clip located at this page.Click on white triangle on the Japanese text page, after going to the link, to stream (on most systems, up for another day or so). Approximately one minute long clip, from Japanese evening news a few hours ago here in Tokyo.
a) Footage of Pyongyang, North Korean TV female announcer spitting bile and filth towards innocent South Korea saying that they deserved the attacks because they started it and more would be on the way.
b) Japanese and South Korean reporters today apparantly caught and cornered the envoy of North Korea (DPRK) to the United Nations on a sidewalk in NYC, Mr. Pak, and asked him about this attack by North Korea. He of course turned the tables, and listen to his VERY provocative reply in English to the reporters (another bold North Korean unapologetic threat to make additioanl war moves).

If the sight of their fellow civilian countrymen running from a building with artillery falling all around ... It has to be remembered that Seoul, RoK is mere miles from the border and is the locus of more pre-set artillery than any other place at any time in history. An actual full-fire conflict could result in the complete destruction of the capital city of South Korea. This is not a desirable outcome in anybody's book but the danger is that when you deal with people / governments (North Korea) that have NOTHING to lose and see little chance of things getting better ...
The fact that it is North Korea's OWN FAULT becomes immaterial and thus explains why this has been so insoluble for so very long. There are no good ways to handle this and little chance of a non-violent solution.

Precisely.
Obama comes to the region (two weeks ago).
Visits Seoul.
Participates in APEC.
Comes off as patently weak and a metrosexual at best, prime Norkie bait (modern day Neville Chamberlain) for blackmail and intimidation.
He is a lame duck on top of it, having been smacked by the US People.
Two weeks pass, the dictators and provacateurs sense WEAKNESS.
And they act.<;p>You won't hear this line of logic on NPR, I can guarantee you.

What people are now keeping their eyes on is the "air". That is, South Korea has sent up and is sending up F-16s in a show of initial air support, that they will attack DPRK coastal offensive (artillery bases) if the DPRK commences hostility again on the islands, but to meet that threat North Korean had sent up five (5) MIG-25s. They may or may not be provocatively sending them up sense then.
The naval component is building up, and will be an incredible show of force, but between that time, I would say "watch the skies", and also what Junior and Chia Pet decide to do. It is definitely hair trigger at this time.
Japan is fed up with it, I will tell you that. Whether they can coordinate quickly on a moment's notice and not cluster *f*, is the question. The Democratic Party here is so inexperienced it isnt even funny.

Hope the NOrkies do not have any nukes in the mix. That would be very very bad for all. Is China willing to go that far in testing US resolve? Obama will knuckle under IMHO, if push comes to shove. He hasn't got the right stuff like Kennedy or Bush in starring down the enemy. So these i ncidents are designed to kik the US out if the Western Pacific and bring S, Korea and Japan into the hegemonic sphere of Red China. If Obama backs down it also means war between Red China and Taiwan. They will never give in without a fight, but S. Korea and Japan are run by weak kneed liberals. They will cave if Obama does. And if that happens , Japan will not be a very hospitable place for Westerners in just a few years.
This is the result of Obamas international, "America is weak" speeches and posturing abroad. Congress should impeach the bastard for treason to our allies. What we are now seeing are the stategic wages of Obama's weakness, and a devolution of America's place in the world. In that way Obama will have us at war soon if he is not stopped cold.
The wages of Obama's liberal fascism are about to demand payment.

Just a thought. Are the Chinese attempting to lure in a carrier so the North Koreans can live test the Chinese anti-carrier systems by a proxy mini-war?

Actually, these exercises had been planned for some time. It is just coincidental it comes right after the North Korean attack and abrogation of the Armistace Agreement with their act of war on Korean civilians in the south.

You HAVE it. I predicted this would be the result of tis bit of foolishness hereunder, and I am not psychic like you are.LOL.
Remember?
The Emperor knew very well what that bow meant at the moment it was given: War. You can tell by the look on his face. A sickly forced smile as he attempts to bow back,( the Emperor usually stays bolt straight and nods his head.)IMHO He knew Obama in that instant to be a man with few scruples, a man without honor or duty to his own country...weak. Ands so the Chinese and N. Koreans saw too, and now they play him like a fiddle.

My take is that the Emepeors look is more like, “ Oh no, this weak thing is all that is tanding between us and Red China and North Korea?”
The detent with China wheels started grinding within the hour after that bow, IMHO.
